View Full Version : Make you cry...
In the spirit of Nutworld's musical queries...
What song('s) can bring tears to your eyes?
For me...
Swan Dive, Ani DiFranco
Alive, Pearl Jam
"Round here" Counting Crows
....oh, wow. i know there's more. mental block...emotions...can't comprehend...shut down!!...shut down!!
i tend to not remember things like this, but i'll think on it and get back to you with more.

I think it's Cats in the Cradle by Jim Croce.I may be wrong on the title. It's the one where his kid does everything like him.
I'll grow up just like you Dad.----------Can't think of it.It's on the tip of my tongue. Irish

For me it would be
"Grandpa" by the Judds......all about how the world has changed and not neccesarily for the better..sad for me because I never had a Grandpa...
Can't and never have been able to listen to "Old Shep" by Elvis
And also by Elvis "Don't Cry Daddy" about a child asking Daddy not to be sad because Mommy has died..
And in the same vein...."Honey" by Bobby Goldsboro
*sniff sniff* ~wiping my nose and blotting tears from my keyboard~

Wind beneath my wings. Brings a tear to my eye even typing it out. I sang this at my Grandmothers funeral. one of the saddest songs ever for me.......
And there is a contry song that someone did for 9-11 that makes me tear up too.

I was going to say "tears in heaven" but Sharni beat me to it.
One that always gets to me is Addagio for Strings, by Samuel Barber. It's just such a beautifly, haunting melody.
For those of you that saw the movie Platoon, you should know it if not by name.

I cant remember the name of it but it was about a crippled boy on the CB who asked for a ride in an 18 wheeler and there were heaps of trucks lined up. A classic tear jerker but it got me cos I am such a softy where kids are concerned. I can't bear to watch a movie where a kid is killed or dies, I get really upset.

Wanda dont worry i have seen Taps make grown men cry. Another one for me is A Song for Mama cause it always makes me think of my Grandmother. And last but not least i can listen to the first few words of a song my best friend wrote about us and tear up because it is so true. Wish i could but she wont let me post a copy here. But its the best song in the whole world

Heres some of the songs that hit me that have been said already..
Tears in heaven--Eric Clapton
Because you love me--Celine Dion
Wind beneath my wings (school memorial for a good friend, wrote a 4 page poem for his family)
Go Rest High On That Mountain by Vince Gill (song played at great grandmothers funeral)
One that hasnt been posted...
Dont take the girl--Tim McGraw
Taps--when I was in basic training and this was played at night when we were supposed to be in the bed, I got out of bed and stood at attention out of respect of those who lost their lives. On many occasions Ive shead a tear over this song because of what it stands for. I get chills just thinking about it.

Sing me back home by Merle Haggard. This is one of my Dad's favorites and he's getting on up in age.Every time I hear it I think of how lucky I am to have had my dad as long as I have. There are so many clueless people in this world that they forget about family. Without my family I'm nothing.

Oh. My. God. This is my favourite song in the universe. I often play it on the piano on a rainy Sunday afternoon:
Well the sun is surely sinking down
But the moon is slowly rising
So this old world must still be spinning 'round
And I still love you
Sung by James . . . it's so mournfully beautiful!
