Okay, this really isn't a sex question but if anyone could....squelch my worry it'd be appreciated.

I've had my period for about 2 weeks. I spotted on and off for a week and then I got it full force on the 31st and it's still around. Is this something to worry about? Or, should I just chalk it up to stress and being young (20)? I couldn't be pregnant could I? I tend to worry about everything so should I not?

thanks :)

I think you should call your doc. I know i spot alot and have weird period's but i recently just got off BC. If you have spotting like that it may be something worse.. Have you recently been with someone unprotected ?

Do you have a history of irregularity or is this abnormal?

Stress/emotional upheaval/sudden shock/commencement of

a sexual relationship can all do this.

See the quack just to be on the safe side.

check out webmd.com, my girlfriend said they should have the answer. She says it may also be a miscarriage and it could last for a couple of months. definitely see a dr.

uuggh guess i'll have to go see the "quack" *lol* For a girl without insurance it's not something I look forward to.

This is not normal for me, I'm pretty regular and a 6 day girl. I have been stressed lately I guess (i never think I am, but when the ulcer flares up I guess I am).

miscarriage...yikes, I hope I wasn't preg. in the first place. My period was normal last month and the month before, etc.

well if your period was normal the last couple of months then you could have something wrong with your ovaries. you could also have cysts on your ovaries. you can go to your local health department. they will tell you everything you need to know for free usually.

Being a Wholelistic Practetioner I would say to seek professional help and also Eat Yogurt at least once a Week or more.

Well-my gyno told me to only worry if something was odd 2 months in a row. one month weird can be anything-stress, hormones, etc etc. so maybe wait for a bit. Or you could talk to a doc over the phone and see what they say-they might tell you to wait too.

Hon, how much are you bleeding? (how many pads/tampons a day)
If this is just spotting, it is not as urgent as if you are using ten or twelve pads a day. But as a nurse, I vote GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR!!! NOW!!!
Better safe than sorry!

Why do you hesitate? It´s your health! Better one time too much at the doc than getting something serious.

Just thought I'd update.

Went to the doc. She doesn't know why exactly, did blood tests and my thyroid came back slightly elevated. Everything else was fine.

glad to hear that. I recently went to the doc for cramping and spotting, found out its liver kidney, bladder infection.. Also thyroid was a lil out of wack too. Im glad you can get taken care of and just make sure they test everything. Since your first post have things gotten better or worse or about the same ?

Hi Phoenix,

I'm so sorry, that must be horrible. Just to let you know, one of my best friends has had her period since the beginning of March, sometimes just spotting, sometimes full strength. She's been to the doctor, who can't find anything wrong. This same friend also once had her period for two years. While there could be something wrong, it could also be stress or something else along those lines. That's what she was told by her doc.

Good luck and hope it goes away!!

Well I'm sure glad to hear that you got it checked out- be sure to go back if there's any pain involved... I've had mine for about 15 days before, but it was pretty harmless and I was under quite a bit of stress at the time. Still, if there's any pain it could be a sign of endometriosis (uterine tissue outside the uterus) and that can turn pretty serious... Still, glad you checked out A-Ok!

Thanks everyone, you are all so sweet

It did stop on this past Saturday, so it lasted 24 days. I think it could be stress because I've been under a great deal lately.

I was tested for diabetes, anemia, thyroid and she also did a pap smear. The thyroid was the only thing that was a little off, so will go check that again in 3 weeks. The pap smear results weren't in yet.
