A retail grocery store in western PA. was reported to the state attorney general for charging $30.69 for an 18 pack of toilet paper. What is it like in your area?

So far, at least, we haven't seen any overt acts of price-gouging. A few years ago, another crisis saw some gas stations "up their prices" significantly and they were caught and fined significantly. Don't know if the memory of that has helped to give pause to those that might have considered that or not … but if it did, good.

My daughter was shopping a few days ago and said there were only 6 packages of meat... and rhere was a ham way down the end, for $64.00

Needless to say We're not eating ham,

Sounds like a case that maybe could have been reported to the States Attorney. There's no call for that unless it was a really huge ham by some exclusive brand.

I said 'maybe it was labeled wrong'
She didn't seem to think so.

Guess its mystery meat? Last weeks special?

Wasn't that a famous Greek myth? The Search for the Golden Ham?

It be too bad when folks try to do bad tings fer others, I tink.

Ya got that right, Goofy. Fortunately, around here, I haven't seen too many instances of price gouging-but maybe that's just because I haven't been able to get out much.

Ha, one benefit of the stay-at-home order is that ignorance sometimes really is bliss.

I think you got that right, gg. It's really not been all that bad getting to stay around the house except for necessary runs, like yesterday, renewing our Ford's license plate sticker. :(

So far I haven't seen any such issues when shopping here in Western Washington.

Not sure there is as much of that going on this time as there was in past situations. Thank heavens! (Good to see you, Aqua!)

*Reminds myself I am in the gouging thread* (very easy to be distracted by shiny things and sexy men)

No reports of any price gouging. Two local fast food places have stopped selling burgers, they are out of meat they say? No burgers!! Whats this world coming too?

At least it's only price gouging, and not eye gouging.
