Margaret Thatcher, known as the Iron Lady, former Prime Minister of Great Britain has died.

Baroness Thatcher had a stroke on Monday.

Will be interesting to see the reaction of the British public.
Admired by some but also hated by many.

There are those who say that she saved the Falkland Islands but destroyed Britain.

Interesting reactions in UK. Some wonderful praise for her work and at same time street parties celebrating her death.

She certainly wasn't afraid to stand up for what she believed.

May she RIP now.

I attended a lecture by and a subsequent interview with Tony Blair yesterday evening, and he likened those celebrating the death of Mrs. Thatcher to other close minded ideologues who, he suggests, are the real obstacles to evolving civilization.

So many young people joining the celebrations who would not even have been born (or very young) during MT time in office.
Interesting how one can inherit hatred or simply enjoy the notion of placard waving as priority and cause as secondary.

Many of them would have been indoctrinated daily by their parents in the cult of hatred of Thatcher.

Tony Blair was a Thatcher supporter, and would have been a tad biased also.

Amazing how divisive she is, even in death.

Always denied it while he was PM though!

By the way, she's being cremated and buried SOOOOOOOOO deep, she'll reach Melbourne, no worries! ;)

He probably waited to declare his support for that leader of the Conservative Party until after he ended his leadership of the Labour Party.

Blair actually thought that Thatcher was the right person in the seat at the time.

So did the voters.

Ultimately, it wasn't the voters who removed her from the seat.

Too true! That event unfolded in a civilized fashion, in contrast to the savagery of the yobs who celebrated her death.

Both ex-Labour prime ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown are scheduled to attend her funeral.

. . . with instructions to ensure the lid's on properly. We won't see her like again for a while.

While I’ll agree that those who are transformative appear infrequently, and that politics is the art of the possible, I doubt that one described in this thread as a supporter of Mrs. Thatcher would follow any such instructions. He’s more likely to continue to be an advocate of her willingness to stand up to tyranny which helped to bring an end to the Soviet Union.

I absolutely don't come here to talk politics; all I'll add to this is that Margaret Thatcher was possibly the single most socially and societally divisive politician this country (by which I mean the UK, obviously) has ever known - and, possibly, ever will know.

I in no way condone some of the things being said and done by certain factions over here just now, but I do understand the feelings of many of them. (Anyone under the age of 25 does NOT fall into this category, simply because they weren't around during her reign).

Can we get back to enticing some lovely naked ladies to post LOTS of pics now please?!

Ta ever so …..

I’ll agree if you restrict the selection to modern politicians.

LOL!! That was, however, not the conjecture.

And that would be pleasurable, wouldn’t it?
