Dang i've been busy as lol

My eldest demon spawn has moved out (woohooooo), though i miss him it is nice to see him with some independence (he has aspergers). I go and see him at least once a week, and enjoy that time heaps.
My youngest spawn is now finished school and has a job (woohoooo) and i dont think it will be that long and he too will move out.
Bilbo and i will then have a empty nest and will thoroughly enjoy it *LOL*

Work sux - to the point that during my annual leave while recovering from surgery (hopefully) i will be actively looking for a new job! Dont care what it is as such as long as it is NOT doing what i am currently and the workmates are decent!

Regarding surgery - I am hoping to go under the knife sometime in December. If is a major op, but one i have been wanting for quite a while. Its not the procedure i originally wanted, after talking to the surgeon the other option is better suited to myself. I'm not saying what it is yet and prolly wont until its done and i'm all clear. It will be a start to a new life for me.

So yeah sorry i havent been around as much as a should *hugz*

Fill me in on whats happening in your life????

In my life ... I think you knew I had surgery to remove a small nodule on my right lung. Surgery was successful and we think it's all gone bye-bye! :)

Seems like this year more than most has been filled with car bills. Mainly normal maintenance stuff, but still frustrating in their frequency.

Lots of fall cleanup to do, but I've been slow in starting. Too bad, the weather has finally (knock on wood), turned beautiful.

Just want you to to Fantasia, you'll be in our prayers until we know the surgery is done and that all is going well! Actually, we think of you anyway, but the prayers will just be more intense than normal. ;)

Thanks DB *hugz*

I'm predicting it will all go well, but gotta be a realist and surgery can go wrong i spose. If this one does it will be a not so easy fix unfortunately and will see me with extended hospital stays, rather than the 4 days min.
The risk is there, i understand it to be a 1% chance. I am fingers crossed just hoping beyond hope i am not in the 1%.

Prayers will be fully appreciated!

I am fine. My oldest son is now my daughter, my best friend's 10 month old baby died and I was there, my classroom aide has been out sick for a week and a half, I was in the dog house at work for calling peeps on their bull shit, my son just informed me he wants to go be a FES his senior year in Tokyo or at the very least he will be going to London for next year's new years $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and I hurt something and can't get back to zumba without tearing it up so I am gaining back weight I worked so hard to lose. But I am fine.

Really I am. Just a lot of heavy stuff at once.

I suspect this feels somewhat like another type of “coming out” might be – simultaneously exciting and scary – but the big transition in my life is that I have taken on a submissive.

Hope your surgery has the desired results hon. Prayers are a given!

My daughter "R" (who turns 19 on Hallowe'en!) has just started her THIRD year at university in Edinburgh! Living there, with her boyfriend, and Herself and I visit with them every second Friday.

Showing off a bit here, but I now have two cars! A (very fast!) Subaru for fun, and an Alfa Romeo GT for work. No bike now though, and promised R I wouldn't get another. As she said, "I've lost one parent - thats enough".

Other than that, work/sleep/play. It's all there is, when you get right down to it!

Fangtasia you are in my prayers that all well come out fine. My oldest daughter is due with my first grand child a boy on Christmas eve. My oldest son still has no urge to find a job and my youngest just turned 16 and is doing good. I maybe getting divorced here soon, but am currently seperated. Other than that I go to work and come home to continue the same the next day.

I hope everything goes ok with your surgery, Fangtasia, and you heal quickly afterwards :)

I'm going for fairly major surgery very soon, too. Next week, in fact   I should be just about healed by the time you go for yours.

Good to read an update from you all. My life is different beyond all recognition but I'm doing ok :)

Thanks again.

This op has the very large potential to give me my like back, opening up quite a few opportunities in many aspects. I am excited as. Passed all the tests with flying colours, so thats a major barrier out of the way. One more barrier to get passed before i will know for sure if it will go ahead. Gonna be a long wait til i know, well its gonna feel like a bloody long wait anyway.
I will be applying for a weeks long service the 1st day back at work, they will love that i bet. I cant leave it any longer than that, or it definately wont get approved. So regardless of if the op goes ahead or not i will be having nearly 6 weeks off this Xmas *L*
Yeah as i said i'm excited, but also scared cause i know things can go wrong, surely i have had my share!!

From our girl:

I've had the op, the 1st 2 days were rough, they were fighting to get the vomiting under control, turns out it looks like i have yet another medication allergy that was causing the issue. So i have refused to have that anymore and am now well on the way to recovery.
Today (30th) is my 1st day of being allowed to drink anything (still nothing to eat yet). I'm allowed 50ml of clear fluid over an hour, and believe me after not having anything since 8pm on the 26th, any fluid is like the nectar of the gods lmao
Dont know when i am being let go home....so will not be able to get to pixies until i am home

Lotsa love

So i am pretty much in the clear now, still need to be careful to a point i spose for a few more weeks. I feel a million bucks guys, came through it really well (bout time i copped a surgery break *L*)

The 2 days after the op were rough as, and i kept saying what the fuck have i done to myself here. Turns out it all was due to a medication allergy. I refused to continue that one and then there was no looking back!

Now onto what i had done...

I am obese, and i frecking hate it! So i decided to do something about it. I had a gastric sleeve done. For those that may not know what this is, they remove quite a bit of your stomach. Normal stomachs hold approx 1 litre, mine now holds approx 150mls. Because i can only eat small amounts at a sitting, my main intake is protein, i am not permitted to drink at all while eating (fluids take up precious food room)

I am at a plateau in weightloss at the moment, mainly because, well its Xmas, and i did not eat exactly as i should (i ate nowhere near enough and not the best choices), but Xmas is now over, and its full steam ahead to the new me.

I have a ticker in signature, so ppl can see how i'm doing.....looking forward to the new improved me!

Fangtasia
12-29-2012, 10:01 AM
Thanks Lil hun.......surgery was my last option, tried so many others, i want my damn life back!

I will be doing some studying on high protein foods, and picking up some tasteless protien powder to bump up other food types also.

Got my bucket list at the ready. Cant wait to start ticking off the list *L*

I had a gastric bypass done about a year ago. A lot of friends had gastric surgery also. Some got a sleeve some a bypass and both seem to work out fine. I went from 400lbs to 215lbs in a year. What ever you do make sure you eat your protein and drink all your fluids for the day! If you make the mistake of letting yourself get dehydrated once you will never do it again! I messed up and let myself get dehydrated and it's horrible. If you have any questions about things down the road I'll be glad to try and answer them for you. Good luck!

OH! Start saving money now because all the new clothes you will need for the newly developing smaller you gets expensive quick. :D

Fangtasia
12-29-2012, 10:14 AM
Thanks WhoAmI.

I need to up my protein, i know that for a fact. I'm getting peckish (not that it takes much to make that go away *L*). I need to get myself organised to have 6 meals times a day too, but i just cant fit it in sometimes.

Oh i know about dehydration already, it is way not good. When i got out of hospital we were having a heatwave, when you can only drink 50ml of fluids an hour, it truely was not good. I lasted a day and i just had to go against the surgeons advice and free fluid after that (just sipped water pretty much all day, other than when i ate of course)

I bought some new clothes today (they were major major on sale, so no big prob when they are too big later) and already down 2 sizes, stoked!

I know fish is great protein and low fat. Turkey is better than chicken. You could also try protein shakes as meal substitutes for when you don't have the time, but clear that with the doctor first. If you are allowed the protein shakes make sure you look at the contents closely. I was drinking them for a while, and found some had better percentages than others.

I eat a lot of fish, tuna, salmon etc. Just as well i actually like it lol. Love turkey, but its unbelievably pricey, so that is not something i would be having often. Eggs are another good protein source, i ether have them cooked or add a few raw ones to a shake/smoothie.
I am permitted protein shakes, once i go back to work that will be my breakfast at 3am lol. I use OptiSlim.
Gonna go suss out protein powders either today or tomorrow, i want a tasteless one though so i can add it to whatever needs a boost.

Thank you....it will take a bit of time to take this weight off, it certainly didnt get here overnight.
I am looking at a gym/pool memberships at the moment to help speed the loss up some

Lilith
12-29-2012, 06:20 PM
Finding exercise that does not cripple you is difficult. I zumba (latin dancing) but it can be hard on the knees and ankles. I found ellipticals and treadmills caused repetitive strike injuries for me and since I needed to use them so much it was pretty intense. Maybe a stationary bike and then you can move to a regular bike after?

Fangtasia
12-29-2012, 06:29 PM
Dancing is out at this stage, i carry too much still for it not to cause problems.

I was thinking the pool, swimming and even walking in the water can be good exercise and is low impact on the body. The treadmill i could do carefully, and the exercise bike. The rowing machine i could do in small amounts.
I need to tone as best i can so some weight work will be needed.

I will need a personal trainer to do me up a plan as i do need to be careful. My back is knackered, so will need careful building up. Hips are shot, ankles are shot. Crook shoulders (rotor cuffs), RSI in my elbows lmfao...Wlking wounded i tell ya.

I just need to start off slow and as my fitness builds so can the workouts. I know i can do it, i used to be a bit of a gym junkie, yeah suprise suprise i know. 6 days/week for 2-3 hours a day, absolutely loved it, you'd come out buzzed!

Lilith
12-29-2012, 07:24 PM
I was too. I am convinced it is part of the problem. I was burning a zillion calories back then but as life got in the way I could not keep that schedule. Now it takes sooooo much to lose anything.

Fangtasia
12-29-2012, 07:48 PM
Yeah i dont have time to do gym like that now....ok when i am not working, but add that sorta time to working fulltime and looking for another job, photography, and wanting to go back to school and its just not attainable.

But i would like to get back to it, i'm sure it will be anything but enjoyable at the start lol I wish though i had a gym buddy, might have to see if i can rope someone into coming with me i think

gigi
12-29-2012, 08:10 PM
I hope you find the gym buddy you are looking for....it helped me get back and take off 30 pounds. Which is only a piece of what I should lose. But it's the first time that the 30 haven't come back.
I'll be thinking of you Fangtasia...and hoping that all goes very well. :)

Fangtasia, I wish you all the best as you go forward. I had a friend you had gastic bypass and his life was drastically changed for the better. I also have a lot of weight to lose. I was doing really great for awhile and then life and it's many ups and downs got in the way, and when your addiction is food that is what you turn to. At least I do.

I just bought a really nice elliptical and some new weights for my new workout room in my house. I also belong to a weight loss group called TOPS (taking off pounds sensibly) and this Wednesday is my new start over date.

If anyone wants to start a support thread on here, I will be happy to join.

My OH has been going to weight-loss "classes" since last March and reached her goal weight last Monday, meaning she's lost 3 stone 4 pounds altogether - 46 pounds or a fraction under 21kg.

Her main activity has always been (horse!) riding, and being the lowest weight, well, ever really, means she can now manage a lot more in that regards, plus gym, swimming, walking the dogs even longer …. the list goes on.

It has other benefits as well ;) ; sadly those show up my overweightedness and lack of fitness!!

Well done Fang, and here's to the next mini-goal!

I've now passed my 1st mini goal and heading to the next. I've lost 2-3 clothes sizes (depends on what the clothes are) and feeling far better already.

I have my relapse moments, where my choices are not brilliant. I've worked out this happens when i am rushing or busy. But sometimes slowing down just isnt an option.

I am, at the moment, trying to de-busy some parts of my life. Some has been hard to let go i will admit, but something has to give.

I am sorta stuck in this middle spot. One hand is the familiar (job, hobbies, life in general), and the other hand is the big black unknown....i want to head for the unknown but the familiar is comfy and i'm a bit nervous of stepping off. Dunno if i am making sense but lol that is how a feel at the moment.

But all in all things are plodding along in the general direction i want to go
