No. I decided if we every become a totalitarian state, it won't be as much fun stomping on a bunch of electronic tablets as it would be tossing bookins into this enormous campfire. :spin:
:D

I purchased one for my father, and he is quite complimentary about it.

Actually yes but only because I was given one. Even so, I probably spend just about as much time online with it (it is my only source of internet at home currently) as I do reading ebooks on it.

The company I work for refurbishes those......
No I haven't, and I don't really plan to. When it comes to reading I am much the traditionalist. I love my books , and will continue to cherish every one I buy until they're taken completely off the market.

I love my Kindle, although at the moment, I'm rocking it old school, reading a book my SIL sent me for Christmas, and rereading a series, the latest installment of which I now have on Kindle. I wasn't sure about it for a long time, but then I test drove the hubby's and deemed the experience awesome. I like, too, that I can bump up the text size. I find I'm needing to do that here and there as I get older. And I love that I'll never have to buy another bookshelf; I don't have room for another one anyway.

I thought that too right up til I figured out much like red that I can bump the font and size to read without my glasses in bed.

I'm near sighted. I don't need glasses to read, just for everything else....glasses I currently don't have and can't afford, but that's beside the point.

I have picked up off a free-site several hundred of my favourite books, making my kindle a travelling library. If I want a book, I can turn on the 3G and buy a book from Amazon. They will deliver it to the Kindle within about a minute.

Same with Kobo. I also downloaded calibre to my desktop which lets me convert any ereader's books to my preferred format. I have quite the free library too and many given to me by friends. I buy about 3 every quarter.

I have had my Kindle for about a year. The Mrs and I have both got books down loaded. I have gotten some Edgar Rice Burroughs Mars series books free from Amazon.

I won my Kindle at work last March...I currently have over 200 books on it. (and haven't actually BOUGHT a single one)...my 8 yr old son also has about 10 books on my Kindle that he reads. I use a site called warez-bb.org and download alot of books from there. Plus, the free content from Amazon.com. I read alot, and still love actually holding a book & turning pages, but the Kindle is SOOOOOO very convenient for travel. Plus, I like the text-to-speech feature...it reads my books (that are in the Kindle's Mobi format) to me, so I use it ALL the time at work for that. Calibre is awesome for the changing of the formats, we use it too.

I've been sniffing the Kindle air from a distance and been half afraid of it's run-away horse potential. So far this thread seems not to be changing that.

Like anything else, it needs discipline or acceptance of vast excess.

I'm good with the acceptance of excess ;)

Nothing exceeds like excess.

There is no such thing as an excess of books. There is only a dearth of time.
