So the Earth DID move for you.

Next comes the drenching?

On an unhappy note, or next door neighbor’s house was seriously damaged by the earthquake, and he had to stay with us last night. It was tight quarters in SealHaus last night! His brother is picking him up later today. Mr. Henry, as he is known, has been retired for many years, and was quite upset when the city building inspector placed a temporary condemnation notice on his front door.

I was in the shower when it hit. Nearly caused me to slip & fall. Not a big deal.

Sorry to hear about your neighbor, jseal. I seem to remember a winter picture of yours showing that your homes were attached (row houses). Hope yours didn't suffer any damage. :wish:

Here’s a picture (#10) of the damage to Mr. Henry’s house (http://www.baltimoresun.com/news/maryland/bal-earthquake-maryland-pg,0,6797838.photogallery). His is the end of the group, and so while SealHaus was able to propagate the energy to houses (material with like torsion) on either side of it, his was not, and suffered serious damage. We are nowhere near Bond St; God knows what the nerfball who annotated the pic was thinking!

Mr. Henry’s living at his brother’s place now. I learned yesterday that he grew up in that house, which explains much of his distress yesterday. I’m somewhat concerned about additional damage – wind and water – to his house if hurricane Irene makes mischief here this weekend.

Ninety-one years old, and still sharp as a tack! Mr. Henry had an emergency repair crew out yesterday, and the damage is now as managed as might be before the storm arrives.

I hate that pic. Well, not the pic itself. The way it's being used. It was actually taken during the 3.4 quake in this area a couple of years ago. I'm majorly irritated by the number of my friends who recycled the thing as a way to minimize the 2011 quake. Fuckers.

Considering there was much more surprise than damage to property, injury or loss of life among a population not use to the functions of geology, it actually seems appropriate to the discussions so far from the plate boundaries. How lasting are the event results for you?

The news items I have seen were much more about fear than damage.

Mama Nature reminding us she's still with us.

Yes Rhiannon, hurricanes are a different and dangerous matter for that part of the country. Good luck to all our people in the path. :wish:
