While our group has changed a lot at this decade mark, I still feel a closeness to many of the real people here at Pixies. I even now have the want to share something special when it cones my way and regardless of the interest I will impart a special experience I had tonight.

Like most of us, I enjoy most music very much and for me it runs from jazz & blues and symphony down to just short of gangster rap. Tonight I happened unto what I would classify as 'avante-garde' but in a new manner for me. Amazement is an understatement. If the words "feeling the music" has any place in your listening, you know it happens and happen it did. Big time! A cello soloist by the name of Zoe Keating (formally unknown to me) did a one performance show here in Cleveland which I attended alone. I can only tell you if there were another performance I would happily take a dozen close people I care about to this experience. Her background is astounding and her road schedule is amazing. If sounds can touch you in any way, I highly advise NOT to miss an opportunity to hear her if she come anywhere near you. Here lightening schedule can be seen here.http://www.zoekeating.com/perform.html

You can find more about her on the web than I ever would have thought. Here are a couple I've been over and her web sight.

Very cool, PF! I will definitely see her if she comes to Seattle.

I won't be crass enough to suggest that PF's interest is a woman on stage with her knees apart.

Good stuff PF. Saw a lovely cellist here just two weeks ago, a high school student who really has a bright future in the classical genre.

Good. I'm glad you didn't suggest that.

LMAO This lady is among the few that would NOT be adding to her appeal to me with that manner, as a matter of note. Truth,........ I was a bit put off with her first appearance (Oh PF, what the hell did you get yourself into again :banghead: ).

The experience that still has me bedazzled was much more than an outstanding cello performance. I'm privileged to have a number of the worlds absolute best cellists in our Cleveland Orchestra (http://web.mac.com/davidcheshier/iWeb/Humanities%20Blog/Amateur%20Humanist/2EEC79F5-5C85-4B0A-97C3-27CFBFAA2C99.html) . She was MUCH more than this. When she spoke I became oblivious to her hair and was able to hear very word. (not an easy feat) She does with the cello what Miles Davis did with the trumpet. Able to produce sounds unique to all other practitioners. You have seen me post about an enjoyed concert or show, but not promoting an 'experience'. Still truly moved.

So, she was just in Seattle and I went to her concert. PF hyped her up BIG TIME and she FAR surpassed all expectations I had. If she comes anywhere near where you live, do yourself a favor and GO!!

Bilbo and I, thanks (a huge huge thanks and hug) to PF, went and seen Zoe last night.

I can honestly say i never really thought of going to anything like this, but OMG it was magical, thoroughly enjoyed it and getting to speak with Zoe afterwards was also a highlight, such a lovely lady.
I am rapt we got the opportunity to experience this, i will be keeping an eye out for her to be back that i can tell you

If you happen to have Zoe performing near you, do yourself a favour and go, you will not regret it!

I understand Fang. As I mentioned up front, it was a total accident I happened onto this and perhaps part of why I'm compelled to nudge true friends to something hard to relate with words. Definitely unique.

Zoe has gotten rid of her dreads and has blonde hair. She is still very gorgeous, but I liked her dreads :)

I am a huge fan of hers thanks to PF :) I listen to her almost daily on my Pandora radio station and I follow her on Twitter and Facebook.

There are very few times where I am blown away by the talent of one individual. But seeing Zoe tonight (thanks to a certain Cleveland leprechaun), I am astounded. Everyone should go. She is amazing. And the only way I can properly describe her music...well, there is no way. The best word I have is lush. An evening of beautiful music and incredible talent.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that was overwhelmed by someone/something so unique. "Lush & WOW" are good words. And I'm happy to say I believe it's not just a polite post. Zoe was in Cleveland Sunday night and I took a few people (16 to be specific :o ) and was able to hear and see the first hand impressions. "WOW" probably is the winning word I heard but you needed to see the facial expressions that came along. "Powerful, unreal, great!, super neat". I think the wide eyes on everyone told me as much as the words on how her performance comes across. This is only the second time I've seen her live myself and have come to the conclusion she is among the most talented with her cello, but so are many others. She also possesses a 'gift'. One that just makes what she does MAGICAL.

I'm just happy I can share this special thing with some special people.

(As for those 'un-initiated' above the 49th, I think you're just mad because you didn't keep her at home for yourself. :roflmao: )
