So the politician joke thing got me to thinking about all the dumb things people say.

While working at 7-11 a high school gal and her boyfriend came up to the counter and while he was paying me for their slurpees she asks me what my song is, I say excuse me, and she says "You know, your song for tips?" I looked her in the eye and said " Honey, I don't work for tips, Cold Stone is 5 miles that way." Her boyfriend is smacking himself in the forehead and she is standing there with a blank look on her face. The customers behind them were cracking up.

So, back in college one day, a friend of mine & I stepped up to counter at a local burger joint.

My friend: "I'd like a plain cheeseburger please."
Counter Girl: "You mean, you don't want any catsup on that cheeseburger?"
Friend: "That's right, just a plain cheeseburger."

(lather, rinse, repeat, with several other toppings subsituted for the catsup, ad naseum, until finally):

Counter Girl: "You do want cheese on that cheeseburger, right?"

I seem to have this conversation alot, since both my kids are biracial and look nothing like me.

Not long ago, I had to go to the hospital for a series of tests. Although I am unmistakenly a male, the young tech asked if I was pregnant. Pausing for a moment I then stoically replied, "I could be. After all I have been fucked numerous times by all three branches of the government and countless times by corporations." She wasn't embarassed by my response as much as she was by the room full of laughter.
