So...to you Facebook folks. I have a question. How do you deal with someone who is from your past that won't leave you alone on Facebook? Do you just defriend them and be done? Or do you wait it out and hope they go away.

Short story... a gal from my past 25 years ago now...looked me up on FB recently. I had a crush on her years ago, but have most certainly moved on. But she's had a tough life (I think) and is a little too enthralled with what could have been.

So I turned my chat off about a month ago, since I couldn't get on without her trying to chat all the freaking time. But now I can't post without her responding. And the comments aren't ones I want to respond too. She wants to chat on posts instead etc. I ignore them. And just a moment ago I deleted one (thus I'm here asking).

I've not defriended anyone before, but I'm thinking here to do it. Was kind of hoping she'd just go away. She doesn't live in the area anymore (a couple hours away I think) if that matters.

What do think?

If she were going to take the hint, she would've done so by now. If you were going to explicitly tell her how she's making you uncomfortable (a conversation that probably wouldn't do anyone any good anyway), you would've done so by now. Defriend her, and don't worry about it. And perhaps consider only friending actual friends, not just acquaintances, even if they were friends long ago.

There is a way to hide their post from your wall without having to unfriend them. I had to this with my foul talking 15 year old nephew. Or just unfriend her. I recently cleaned out my facebook friend list because I just don't need to read that much stuff from people I really don't care about.
