View Full Version : New Critter Pic thread
Due to having a new PB account, and all the links being broken in the other threads, i figured i'd start anew rather than fix the old ones.
So to start it off, a pic of my 5ft planted tank

Lil - Believe it or not this tank only a few weeks ago was an algae (brown/green/black *L*) mess! The redtail shark polished it off, now the tank also has 4 albino bn added to help with algae detail.
Dont worry PF wether pics are here or not, he will never be forgotten!

My Peppermint BN breeding tank. They now have their 1st spawn, i'm sooo excited, 2 years i have waited for the girls to get to breeding age. I have already had a large offer to buy them, well not happening *L* These babies at 4cm will be worth around AU$15 each. Some will be staying on to grow out until they are sexable (12 months or so), females will stay, males will be sold on.

The motion shots came out great. Not fuzzy at all. You have one where your hand is fuzzy, that should probably be cropped (though that's just an opinion). The camera seems to work quite well. I can't wait for the next set.
Thanx guys :)
DB - She may be very loved, not spoiled though *L*
OF - Nika is German Shepherd.......not Malinois though, that is a Belgian Shepherd
LS - The hand it meant to be like that. It shows photo depth. So nope wont be cropping
Now ya think cats would learn eh....noooooooooo.
Simvar my Ragdoll, jumped into a fishtank today again. Said fishtank has about 12cm of water in the bottom to growout some java fern. Welllllllllllll cats and water dont mix *L* He went to jump out the other side and hit the glass lid, goinked his head then panicked cause he couldnt get out, then proceeded to run around and around the tank making a whirlpool and him soaking wet. Finally he found the half to jump back out and then left a trail of water after himself...giving us the major stink eye on the way through cause we didnt help, couldn't we were laughing too much...*LOL* Stupid cat! Let see if he'll try that a 3rd time

Fantastic pics as usual. Those last few following the ibis, just how many frames per/sec are you taking. Looks like one of the last gaps from mechanical film to digital is closing with those speeds. Really good pics. :thumb:
Need to ask if that water is in a quarry. That shore line seems too straight and chiseled in the last few.
Yes he certainly did *LOL*
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder *L* I think they're all cute!
Takes 7frames/sec
The lake is man made. Lake Annard. The birds get locals/tourists feed them daily, bread unfortunately, which really isnt good for them and tends to foul the lake somewhat when heaps of people are trying to feed. There are works still going on there repairing damage from the inland tsunami we had go through

My personal experience its equal footing *LOL*
Doesnt matter on size, all dogs have their own traits :)
Lord Snow
06-27-2011, 09:52 PM
It's a matter of perception. Because they're small dogs with small legs it appears as though they're going a mile a minute simply because of their stride. Longer legs traverse the same distance in less strides thus appearing to be slower.
I think your version of an ADHD dog and mine are different *L* An ADHD dog to me is full on, nothing to do with stride, size etc...
But anyway, Jasper is a fun fella, like to play with his toy and likes you to play with it too, if you can get it off him *LOL*

We had this visitor Sunday afternoon. Totally unexpected, and a little worrisome, for we have little dogs. They now require an escort from dusk and beyond out in the yard.

In the small town where I lived as a child, we had a little zoo, and there was an owl cage. If you tapped on his cage as you walked around the back side of the cage, you could make him turn his head around. It probably wasn't cool of us to do that to the poor guy, but we were kids and no one stopped us, so you know how that goes.

What's a cane toad and what's a slug gun? Is it like shooting bull frogs with a pellet rifle?
Cane Toads are vermin imported into Australia in a misguided effort to combat some pests in the sugar-cane fields of Queensland. Think of the Simpsons episode where Bart smuggled his pet into Australia and it turned into gazillions.
A slug gun's a .177 in air rifle which shoots hourglass shaped pellets. It is not a BB gun.
Bullfrogs are native (to you) ugly things. Cane toads are toxic monsters.

2ft goldie tank (with my DIY background)
That is a really neat background. What is it made of and how did you do it?
The background is made of styrofoam (from foam boxes), foam is ripped, cut into basic shape, then melted to get more realistic shapes, its then covered in a render layer, then covered in 2 coloured render (brown) layers, then other coloured cement oxide colours are mixied with water and blended in to make it more real looking. Then it is coated in 4 layers of pond sealer.
It is not exactly as it should have worked out, sealer went slightly white. But it is still inert and i actually dont mind the look.
I will be making some more soon, i'm going to try sealing with epoxy (danged expensive!)
The maingano have now gone and tank gone in a different direction.

How deep's you water table, CGT?
I dunno old fart. My well is only 25 ft deep and I still can't get a prime on it. I'm having to run rural water to my horses. That's pretty sad. I just spent 75bucks on my pump last summer and never got a drop out of it withought hooking up my rural water to it. I have lived here since 1963 and i remember springs running out of the banks of the creeks and catching crawdads. it stays mostly bone dry now. So sad to see that happen. My dad owned 400 acres we had 4 ponds. Everything went dry this summer. My father passed away nov 11 2001. 2 months after the twintowers bombing. He caught psedomonas pneumona cutting and baling hay. He was a hard old fart that never went to the Dr. and at 65 he passed away. He was a farmer ,cattle trader, and an auctioner. And out of me and 3 brothers I was the only one who stayed with him. We raised and ground our own feed and hay. Me and my oldest brother made our clothes money for school by haulng hay for other people at a nickle a bale a day we had many bottle calves and he invented the first movable calf house on skids. We also had 15 holstein cows that we put in stanchions twice a day and raised 4 babies to a cow. Thats not counting about 20 bottle calves we fed and the many cows we fed silage to. Teaches made us go home because we stinked so badly of silage and couldnt afford a new pair of shoes to go to school in. when we started getting a mile from our house kids would hold their noses. Crap that meant money to us!. Mr. Goodknight gave us all the baby calves we could pull out of the muck and mud for free. thats how we raised us 4 kids. plus we had a garden and all of us kept it up but me n mom did all of the canning. today I still can. Yes mom made our own clothes until we made high school. Thats how farm kids were raised and Im DAMN proud of it!Not sure the critter thread is where this be belongs.. but what the hell it affects all us critters I have hardly ever seen a horny toad anymore and when I go frog giggin I see so many deformed frogs. The pesticisides we are using are deforming the wild life. All I ask is the farmers and ranchers to stay away from the wetlands with their pesticicides. That goes for the cropdusters too. Your market gain is killing and deforming our wildlife and you damn well know it!

P.S. I didin't even post pics of my show cattle. I went to the Arizona Nationals my Sr. Yr. which my dad bought through the sale ring and didnt't give 50,000.00 for lol he may have gave 500.00 :cheerlead

My whole point is.. yes i made a bond with my calf and I kew he would be eventually slaughtered. It's the ass holes who have known you have spent more time and money on what they are worth and they go to omamha steaks and they dont even give you the decencey to say goodbye to them after you have poured your heart and soul into the calf you have bonded with for 2 yrs? For TWO YEARS? I can post you pics of me riding my calves in the summer and the koreans can catch a dog on the street and catch him on fire for someoone to eat? I know of a man who works for Halliburton Fracking wells that has been all over the world taking pictures of the HORRID things he has seen. That can prove this annd back me up! He's not long for Halliburton and he will come clean. It isnt no differet from Viet Nam! Do you know what fracking is? I dated a fracker that had be doing it for ove 40 yrs/that take the gas out of the earth and try to plug the hole with a toxic substance. there is a deficit in the ground and the ground collapes. do you want to be one of them? Ask the people in west texas. This IS where our earthquakes come from!!!!!! God Bless you all. The lord giveth and the Lord taketh away! I thank god my father told me before he died don't take no ntural gas becauses it freezes up in the winter and does you no goodhe also told me not to give any easement but other than water across my line because I cannot dig in cotton electrics boundaries and the can ccut down as maanyy trees if they likee if they think they are groundingg out thee ine! By Law you do have to give in to them they have access to maintian their Lines.......justlike when you get a power outage. they are juusst as responsibil!. Brenda Nease
OK then :)

Bait, toad or bite?
Fangtasia
04-29-2012, 02:51 AM
Bait it seems, or poisoned animals that had taken bait :(
She went from a bubbly pup to gone within hours, and not pleasent. Made worse by the fact my kids were here alone to deal and i was stuck 2 hours away on the phone.
The household is tramatized and will take a while to come to terms with her loss i'm afraid

I never thought of an autopsy until after LouLou had been picked up by Pets in Peace. It will be too late now as she would have been cremated already
I still cant believe my little baby has gone :(:(
