With the recent miraculous Chile and China mine rescues it was easy to think that mining technology has reach a level of safety with contingent actions able to rescue the people that daily go down into the earth to make a living.http://www.freesmileys.org/emoticons/emoticon-misc-004.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org/emoticons.php) Sorry to say that has not proved to be the case in New Zealand today. :( My thoughts go to the families of the men that have had their entire being focused for the past five day, and now have to accept a second explosion has sealed the fate for their loved ones and altered their live forever.

At this time it is not decided if even a body recovery operation can be accomplished. I personally can not imagine going daily into a place that can well be your grave.

I have been keeping tabs on this story, sooo so sad. The youngest was 17 and his 1st day on the job, absolutely tragic.

My thoughts are with the family members, who held hope for that time only to have today dash those hopes, and they are now having to accept that their beloved family caught in there are gone

I feel sorry for the poor Emergency Supervisor, who is copping shit for not allowing the toll to go from 29 to 50 with hare-brained rescue attempts.

I had somehow missed that there was a second explosion in the mine.

That just sucks.
