My town will have a parade for the first time in a really long time this year! In my town we have 2 unis with marching bands. They never appear at the same event, never. Today though they will both appear together to honor Vets. It should be a great event.

As I said in the "sad" thread,

It's Remembrance Day.

All those young lives gone to keep the wheels of politics grinding.

All the civilians caught in the middle.

All the politicians and leaders who haven't learned a fucking thing.

You're welcome, and thank you for the reminder. We sure as hell weren't there for the reasons we were told.

it is strange how that time "in country" shapes the rest of your life and continues to affect you even over 30 years later.

Yep. The amount of service years is greater than any equal number of years. ;)

Sincere thanks to all the men and women who have served our country (and freedom loving countries around the world) for their courage and sacrifice to preserve our way of life. God bless you all.

Had a great day yesterday. Weather was beautiful and I was fortunate enough to be able to participate in Peoria's Veteran's Day Parade. Parade stretched for at least 15 or 20 blocks with a half dozen or more High School bands; floats, military units; and other groups marching. A nice crowd waving flags and (bless them), many standing at attention with hand over their heart as the flag of our country passed by. It was great, too, to see so many young children there with their parents.
