President Obama has been awarded the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize (http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/2009/). The selection committee said he was awarded it for "his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and co-operation between peoples".

It is an expression of hope by the Nobel Prize Folk, both in Obama's Presidency and his Nuclear agenda.

The deed and the prize are lessened without results regardless of intent and effort.
I believe Alfred had to make dynamite work before he was successful.

We'll hope that the achievements match the promise of the award.

Everyone that I've talked to about it feels that the award has been cheapened now. He was given it based on things he has said he WOULD do, not things he HAS done.

It was given not on accomplishment but by contrast. Had Ögedei Khan made sincere strides towards peace he may have gotten it too.

That's my thinking. My 1st reaction was also, "a little premature, dontcha think?!" But props for changing the direction (& intent) of US policy is credit worthy as well.

True.
But I agree with Bill O'Reilly in that it reflects well on America whenever a citizen wins the Nobel Peace Prize.

Sadly, it was seen in areas unfriendly to the West as just another suckup to the great Satan.
