The Perseids Meteor Shower (http://www.chiff.com/science/perseids.htm) should peak late on Tuesday night. The radiant point for this shower will be in the constellation Perseus. Look to the northeast after midnight.

That was a problem here also. The weather cooperated later in the evening, so we were able to see the show, but we could see only the lager meteors over the glare of the city lights.

There was too much haze (smoke, dust and humidity), so I only saw a few of the larger bits. I wish I'd been with jseal, the lager meteors sound delicious.

Now we have to wait until the Geminids in mid December.

That gives them plenty of time to prepare the lager ones for my enjoyment.

They need to be chilled, then delivered with accuracy. Just as well we have orbital mechanics to fall back on.

They start cold, and then heat up on entry.

It shows how deeply you have to chill them, for them to still be cold on arrival.

True, true, and they can pack a wallop.

Before and after you take the cap off.

There you have me! I've never taken the cap off a lager meteorite.

The cosmos is full of new experiences.

I wonder if they've moved to screw caps yet, or if you just drink them.

Could be. As Sir Arthur Eddington once said, "Not only is the universe stranger than we imagine, it is stranger than we can imagine". This would fill the bill.

Yup.
