Last Thursday evening, we went to the Hoosier Park racetrack north of Indianapolis. First time I'd ever been to a horse race and it was a blast.

I like to say I won $12; but that it cost me $20+ to do it. :)

Anyway, I thought I'd share just a few pictures from the evening.

We had a great time in a very family friendly environment. Our daughter, who lives there, and her family went with us. Kids could meet the jockeys and the had some horses they could pet (not the race horses).

I was so impressed with how beautiful those race horses were. Even the slow ones were fantastic. Very sleek animals.

Looks like you had a great time. That is soooo cool, DB. I've always wanted to go to a horse race. There's places near where Catch and I live, so maybe one of these days, i'll take the time. Great pics and thanks.

A new rail-bird is hatched. :yikes:

I don't know if you are going to make a lot of :2cents: with that plan but you'll have a lot of fun. Maybe you can get a job taking more great pics of noses at the line.

Properly planned and executed, a day at the races can be immense fun.

Remembering it the next day is a different story.

The track we went to was at the northeast side of Indy ... but, we hope to get back over there and go to one located at the southeast side of the city. Our kids tell us it's even nicer than the track we went to (gotta see that to believe it ... I thought Hoosier Park was terrific).

Interesting that even as a noob, you still discovered the secret of why horse tracks are so successful...

The last horse I backed started at 10 to 1 and finished about half past four.

DB where is that in relation to the car track? I stayed well north of the car track but sounds like east of where you were I stayed on that main Road north to south think it was N Delaware

If you mean the Speedway for the Indy 500 race, them01 ... it's on the west edge of Indianapolis just inside the loop of interstate highways. Hoosier Park is about a half hour or 45 minutes northeast of the city off I-69 headed towards Ft. Wayne.
