Mrs OF and I recently began a 2 year trial retirement so we can get out and see the country and it's wonders while we're still young enough. At the end of the 2 years we'll see if we want to stay retired or go back to work.

During this time I'll stay in touch with a prepaid wireless connection and whatever wifi I can scrounge.

Our first stage is from here to Adelaide on the Ghan (google it) on New Years Eve then drifting north-east.

We hope the two of you have lots of fun and see some wonderful sites. Just start a travel log to make the rest of us envious.

My soul needs saving. When is your trip to the dungeon?

Oldfart

Probably not till 2010 now, courtesy of the exchange rate and what the slide did to my superannuation. We might find it cheaper to bring you over here (snicker).

The OldFarts should be about 5 hours down the tracks (http://www.gsr.com.au/our-trains/train-routes.php) on a life experience journey that I anxiously wait for them to share with us as it unfolds. :) I wish them the safest trip and look forward to seeing some of the Oz site that I personally know will be viewed by the eye and mind of not the ordinary tourists.

Hi all.

I'll get some pics on soon.

We stayed in Adelaide for a few days, visiting a few wineries, then went up-country

to stay in a grand old house (complete with ghost, apparently).

We have driven like the wind across boring stuff heading to Newcastle to see family.

There is no emergency, but we want to get the obligations out of the way early.

We are in Narrandera, a place famous only for being Narrandera.

 Well it's about time. Ya didn't see anything in Alice Springs, or just nothing ya want to show us? You must think you can keep us poor folk stupid about the rest of the world. I hate when you are always right. :banghead:

I suspect you were still a bit overwhelmed by the size of the crowds in Nashville listening to your speech at the cemetary.

That's me, a stone cold orator.

They weren't game to move an inch.

I heard that speech in Nashville. :box: I'm sure they were moving deeper into their seats. :banghead:

You look like you just got off that camel in Alice Springs.

At least you had bunks instead of hammocks.

;)
Travel safe, have fun and keep us posted my friend.

Oldfart

Thanks, Lilith.

Scarecrow, a vote was taken and she decided I had the top bunk.

osuche, no, and no sign of it.

PF, we won't start the humping jokes, just yet.

We're in Newcastle for a week or so, maybe I'll have time to process some more pics.

I finally got my photo program to work on this machine.

Did I sufficiently curse Vista before?

Apparently you were late to the party - I think it was cursed at the factory. :fix:

FWM, it was grounded when I found it. http://www.burkesbackyard.com.au/1997/archives/27?p=3007

wyndhy, no matter how often I run over snakes, I just get this gooey stuff, not oil.

I wonder if those heat exchangers were left for so long because they were hoping OF would retire and offer to just drive them over to Perth or whereever.
