.....when ya score a bargain!!!

I was at work today, and one of the people i work with was saying they had a boom box that needed to go to the rubbish bin as work had written it off. I'm familiar with the boom box in question, as we use it in the holidays for music while we work, and it has absolutely excellent sound when used loud, real loud *L*. Anyway i asked him what was wrong with it. He tells me the CD drawer wont close properly, so it wont play CDs. I figure to myself, well the radio will still work, so my son (whose stereo just when dead) would at least have something, so i ask if i can take it home. No probs he says.

Home i cart thing thing, and i can say damn the thing is freaking heavy. Bilbo plugs it and and sure enough the CD door wont engage properly, he has a bit of a look see at the whole thing, dives off and grabs a screw driver, tightens a screw and be buggered it works perfectly *LOL*

So i scored an excellent expensive boom box for nothing!!! My son is absolutely wrapped. Gotta love a bargain.

Share with me your bargains/wins....i love to hear em (and experience them!)

I once purchased a year old minivan for $1,800! Still driving it. Lucky to be in the right place at the right time. :thumb:

we're dumpster divers. we've made lots of stuff from nothing, sold finds at garage sales for 100% profit, gotten lots of stuff for free (our entire house is full of castoffs), and made garbage look like an HGTV prop.:D

Great finds there you three :thumb:

I love a good bargain, I'm a secondhand queen! My children are dressed 99% of the time in secondhand clothes we get off friends or at garage sales. Saves money and helps the environment  I'd also rather have something that's always worn as you can already tell if it'll wash well, plus it doesn't matter so much if they get ripped or stained within a short time, it's not like something new is ruined.

I bought a lovely pink bicycle for my daughter for $7.50 earlier this year and that was a great hit with her :thumb:

#2 son brought home a laptop from his boss' husband with the words, "if you can get it to work, it's yours" ...time will tell if we've just scored a bargain, or just another boatanchor to add to the general clutter. We don't even have a power cord to charge it up so we can see if it boots or not. I just bought a refurbed laptop on ebay for $300, just in case...

I bought that flute that is gorgeous. Then I just bought an Old double french horn for $148 total then took it to get all fixed for another $278. Over all great price for a horn.
