No rants about either party! With Obama set to reveal his VP choice, I'm curious who you think each party will or should choose.

wouldn't that be interesting...
If McCain chose Lieberman that would almost be the case

Lilith,
I am never correct, but here are my guesses anyway.
Obama: Al Gore, or Bill Richardson
McCaine: Mitt Romney, or Rudy Giuliani
All I know is that my Joe's 96 year old mother has it bad for Obama and declared this morning that she will need therapy if he choose Hilary as his running mate. :D

I do not think McCain will chose Romney, if he is the Mormon dude, because of the Texas compound scandal.
I think Bill Richardson is a could be or Biden even.

i think the loser should be veep.
We tried that once, it was a disaster...at first it was runner-up became veep. J. Adams was not a prob, he was a better VP than he was a President, but during his term as prez he was constantly at war with his VP, Thos Jefferson...then Jefferson's VP Aaron Burr was almost arrested for treason later. Those two bad eggs caused the 12th amendment to be passed.
Can you just imagine if we had let it be? Think Nixon skulking around the Kennedy White house, or Jimmy Carter nipping at Reagan's heels for 4 years...can you say, "yeeeesh?"

yeah, but perhaps by now it wouldn't be "sore loser" but more "that's the way it is"

Unless the President is removed, the VP's largely irrelevant, isn't he/she?

Depends. Some Presidents make wise use of their VPs and some hide them away so they can't make things any worse than they already have.
They can also break ties in the Senate. http://encarta.msn.com/encyclopedia_761556365/Vice_President_of_the_United_States.html#s2

With the exception of the above comment  That's pretty much the case. US is possibly the only country with a govt. post that's mainly a spare tire.

I'm with Wyndhy here, the original iteration of the two posts is best.
See with it that way, the President has to be constantly looking over his shoulder, worried about a VP-directed, CIA-sponsored assissination attempt.
It works for the Klingons.
