after 5 years has finally agreed that there is something wrong with the digi cable on my street. They came out Wednesday and restrung it all and reconnected it all in my house and out after deciding that I might be the problem :D Then afterwards no significant increase in speed. So Thursday they were out doing the same to the street cables and connectors all along my street. Guess what??? No faster :p

Is your service really fast? How fast? I have a pretty fast router/modem so I can't see that as a hinderance.

Well Lilith its not surprising you have trouble with speed with Comcast. The are under investigation by i believe the FCC for unfair advertising . it seams they pick and choice which web sights and services ( the ones that pay the most money) to get the best band with and downloading speed . The others get second priority or get no connection at all . They are basically playing Big brother and telling you what web sights and services they think you should have from there services.I will try to find the article i read on this it was not long ago .

I found the article . Comcast admitted to blocking file sharing sights out right like bit torent , as well as others and down grading band with to what they call secondary sights , and are now under investigation by the FCC to see just how far they have gone with it .

Well that stinks. It must be why they decided to change some stuff in the neighborhood.

i've heard/read similar things. most recently in a popular science article.

in a related story ... our old comcrap box used to reset to the comcrap channel every time it was turned on. they are the most narcisistic, overtly self serving company. and get this: we actually pay less - LESS! - for internet and basic cable than we would if we had just internet. for the longest time i didn't get it, then it finally hit me that they do that so they can show a larger number of cable subscribers than they actually have.

dirty tactics. no reason they wouldn't play dirty elsewhere.
