...eat rats? What's your reaction to this article (http://ca.news.yahoo.com/s/reuters/080818/n_world_reuters/international_india_rats_dc)?

If I got desperate enough, which in this case they seem to be, I would be willing to. It's not entirely unheard of either. As far as I know they breed them in France to be eaten. People in Brazil eat fried guinea pigs. So long as the rats aren't diseased and well cooked there shouldn't be any adverse effects to eating them. Probably taste like chicken to lol

That makes me think of the scene in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" where they were cooking rats over a campfire.
Yeah, if it came down to where rats were one of the few alternatives for me, I suppose I'd give them a try. I'd probably want lots of BBQ sauce with them though. :p

I though of that also. :)
If I were hungry enough, I would try eating rats. I always thought that the first person to look at a Chesapeak Bay Blue Crab, and think "I wonder if I could eat that?" had to be a mite peckish.

C'mon, guys, get over it & try steaks & burgers for a change, & leave the rat problem to the pest control guys... :whack:

Have you every tried Monkey?

Nope. I haven't tried monkey, but I have had gator tail and it tasted kind of like turkey rather than chicken. Pretty good with Ketchup.

I'm admittedly weird, I don't know if I'd even have to be "hungry enough". I like to eat different things just for the experience of having eaten it. I'm not saying I'd just fry up some Norwegian Rat over the campfire, but offered to me as some kind of local fare I'd give it a shot.

Tube Steak tops the menu for me. Lobster, chicken, trout, BBQ Ribs and a host of favorites have to be depleted before the rodent could find a way to my table. Of course if it's what going prevent my death by being that turning point meal, well, it'll be "let's fry up the rat," baby.

Never had rats, but I have had snail (escargot) and it was great. Like Jude30 said, in the right circumstances, I like to try local dishes.
Nope wouldn't eat rats...........dated a few over the years though :)

Wouldnt even want to try them. If rats are eating 50% of the grain in India then they should consider trying to get rid (or close to) them and have more grain to eat. Would taste better hopefully.
