View Full Version : Your UNfavorite critter

What living thing trips your emotional trigger? I don't mean an animal that you just don't care to have around. Not something the is just 'creepy' or fierce, but the thing that flips you pasted reasonable reaction to an emotional 'destroy' mode.

I know for some it's spiders or snakes or some small darting critter. The thing for me is a centipede. :yikes: I could wake up to find a bear in the living room and deal with it more reasonable than to see a centipede in my basement. At that moment I would activate a nuclear detonation to get rid of it were that possible. Just something about them that overrides logic and goes direct to 'DESTROY' instinct for me.

So what's your least favorite life form?

hmmm...*loads up the centipede village*

Snakes make me holler in decibels only dogs understand. Seeing them on tv causes me to stand on furniture.

I like spiders and snakes, mosquitos are a pest(west nile virus). I do not dislike anything with less than two legs.

Wasps, especially if I become trapped with one alone in the house :yikes:

spiders were high on my list of omg killit killit until I held a tarantula, I realized just how fragile the creatures are and I'm not so worried about them, I swear I've seen roaches pick up the shoe I hit them with and come after me! I might have been high

Spiders are maybe my least favorite, but snakes, roaches, rats, and some others are close behind.

rats? really? I used to have a pet rat, his name was Vin he went lots of places including to work with me when I was a camp counselor he came when I called and I could put him on the ground to go potty and he'd do his ratty business and then be ready to climb back on my hand and go ridin again. tragically th the age of 3.5 he succumbed to a rather typical ratty illness, an abscess his was in such close proximity to his nasculinity that it caused it to become exposed and I held him as the vet expedited him to the big sleep. it cost as much to put a 1# rat to sleep as a fucking cat!

This spider thing is not a fear, it's a phobia.

I can't stand plastic spiders, even crabs are just sea spiders.

i had a friend whose guardian was afraid of even fake plastic snakes so when she was tryin to quit smoking she would have Bu put the ciggies in a box of toy snakes

I like snakes, and will actively seek them out.

Spiders don't bother me at all unless one is unexpectedly crawling on me. I'll kill a recluse or black widow, but all other spiders get a pass in my house.

I figure both of those critters serve a useful purpose, getting rid of animals I considers pests.

Wasps on the other hand I do not like. I about drove my work truck into a pile of rock the other day when one flew into the cab. Then one of the little fuckers stung me yesterday while I was trying to get some chairs out of storage.

at onr point I worked at a pet store and sometimes I had to catch feeder crickets either to sell to customers or to feed the store animals that ate them.... one day I got to feed meal worms to the chameleons oh my god that was cool. but crickets give me the heebie jeebies but I dislike most anything that moves quickly I startle easily

Squirrels are nothing but nasty, destructive tree rats.

Naturally enough, my girlfriend had to complicate my life by recognizing her inner squirrel.

For me it used to be silverfishes (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silverfish). Then I convinced myself I was being ridiculous... I still don't like them but I don't let them bother me like I used to.

2 things - wasps...a couple years back I was up on a ladder helping install some columns on my house when one of those angry red wasps started dive-bombing me...I scrambled off the ladder, with him still chasing me, & nearly ran into a tree trying to get away from it.
The other thing that sends me into orbit is any little buzzing insect that gets near my ear...to me, it sounds as loud as the Who & Ted Nugent having a decibel contest, I swat myself in the head like an idiot getting them away, & I need immediate sedation...

Then why not just eat chicken and leave the poor snakes along. :)

I never met a bug I didn't want dead. Spiders and wasp are on the top of the list. Although this gigantic-prehistoric-freak-of-nature moth that hit my sliding glass door last night has now made me terrified to go out at night.

Was it anything like this guy? Just for reference, that's an 8"x 8" column he's perched on.

Personally moths don't bother me much unless they fly in my face, but this guy could intimidate some of the wrens we have around here.

I'm not so squeamish
I do find centipedes make my skin crawl, and I have a tendency to squash them (they're kinda quick and wouldn't want them to be crawling, somewhere at a later time)
Squirrels on the other hand...
I never hand a problem with them (sounds foreboding doesn't it)
always thought they were kinda cute and harmless, in Ontario they are Black, and a lot tougher from what I hear (hey I just heard it, I don't even live there, I find them cuter 'caus they're not a boring gray like ours here...)

But now that I have a balcony with a fire escape leading up to it...
I have learned they are EVIL little Buggers!!! ... :ranting:

They like to come up and visit my plants
if it is edible or fruit bearing, they will eat it before the damn thing is even ripe
Even my Habanero peppers, they would pick them to taste it, no that one is tooo Hot, mmm maybe this tasty looking orange one... (every bloody pepper)
When there is nothing for them to eat, they amuse themselves, by either digging up roots (I guess to bury a prized nut), or sometimes, just to have a taste (usuallly bite the bottom of the stem, so I have often found a plant that was once nice and healthy, chomped near the roots!!!) $#@%$@#^!!!
I even had a beautiful Desert Rose on my balcony once, one day a rodent decided that big fat obese trunk looked tasty, so he tasted it, it did fine for about two months, then I noticed too late, it got rot at the bites, then died!!!
I'm pretty sure that rodent got, at the very least a very sore tummy, as they are toxic, but If I had seen the bugger, I would have Punched him in the Face, David and Goliath or not !!!

OK now a cute little story (my 15 minutes aren't up yet are they?)
I was painting on Martha's Vineyard
doing a lot of outdoor work on rich folks houses...
Up a Ladder on Scafolding...
decided to go down for a break...
just started going down the ladder (say 15' or more)
when suddenly, I feel a wasp stinging me on my leg, in my pants $#%!
I came down that ladder so fast...
Slapping my leg...
as soon as I was Down, I dropped my pants
and what happens...
This Brazilian guy comes walking around the corner...
there I am pants around my ankles, just staring at him
He doesn't even speak any english or french, just portuguese
So I can't even be sure he understood my story...
It was a Wasp, in my Pants
( a ??? in your pants? )

Spiders. Any type of spider. Scary, nasty, crawly things. Worth spraying the house with toxic poison to keep them away. Seriously.
