You are looking at a view that no
person has ever seen before.

After a short jaunt at 74,564 mph since last August 4th, an assembly of parts has landed on another planet.

Phoenix (http://www.sciam.com/podcast/episode.cfm?id=23919A67-B8F1-6E78-8C93252A1DF19504) is sending back vacation pics before it begins taking in the local sights and making a lot of decisions that answers questions that were considered by the Greeks.

I started a thread without quite realizing there was one already started. Sorry PF. I'm moving my post here.

The Mars lander Phoenix made it safely to the surface and seems to be functioning well. An amazing accomplishment.

Answering questions the Greeks asked?? You mean like, "Who's going to win the relay race in the Olympics??" :)

Here is the story from the BBC (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7411113.stm), with a short video when the Phoenix probe landed. Quite an accomplishment. :thumb:

I was a little surprised that there weren't any pictures of some "ice," being near the north pole and everything. That would have been interesting to see.

Telecom Mars has cut the link to the orbiter.

Apparently NASA hasn't paid the bill.
