I have an adoption to attend late on this month and am trying to figure out what to give the family or the 2 girls. Any suggestions?

How old are the girls and do they have any other children?

hmm lilith you give the same stuff you give for a shower. its just the same..

we had an adoption shower when we got out little one. just make it age appropriate. The girls will love it

They have had the children for almost a year. Shower items would be unnecessary. I am looking for something more meaningful but thanks.

how about a gift cert to a portait studio... for a FAMILY picture?

Take the girls out and do an art project with them (pottery, painting, etc) and make it a group gift.

try adoption website for shopping (http://www.adoption.com)
you can get great adoption gifts there. you might find what you are looking for.

there are lots of adoption sites like that that have shopping..

also did they do a domestic adoption or international. Lilith feel free to pm me as our daughter is adopted

These were abused and neglected childen placed in foster care whose foster family is adopting them.

I like the family portrait idea or something along those lines.

I'm not sure how old the girls are, but some sort of jewelry that symobolizes family might be nice for them (and pricey :( )

Or perhaps a family tree type plaque... I'll have to google more.

Great idea. I actually make jewelry so mayhaps I should make them all something to symbolize their unity.

I love the idea of jewelry made with your own hands and own heart.

If you prefer to add something purchased to the gift, I suggest some local maple syrup. :D

a small basket of books, some early reader types for the girls to grow into and a few others they can all read as a family. choose one that maybe even speaks to the family's character or lifestyle if you want. put a small inscription in each. nothing says stability and attention like a nightly bedtime story.

then throw in two lollypops for the girls 'cause nothing makes a kid smile like a giant swirly lollypop. unless they're way under 5. then just add diapers.
