I have one last, precious, glorious week before I start work again. I'm well-slept, the house is clean, I've cooked lots of new recipes, and I've seen lots of friends.
I'm looking for some ideas to make my last week really special. Do you have something - simple or complicated - that you love to do while you're on vacation?
I'd love to try some new stuff - and I'll even report back to you how it went. :)

Think of something you won't have time for once you're back at work and do it.

An overnighter on Catalina?
If you've never done that ^^^ and it would be within the budget, I say go for it! One of my favorite places in the world!

pamper day- hour massage, manicure and pedicure, facial, hair the whole she-bang. If $$ is an issue schedule them seperately at lower priced places.
volunteer- at a school to read with a child who has no one who cares enough to
buy- fruits or vegetables you have never tried and if you do not like them, use them to make soup or smoothies
make Christmas gift baskets for peeps- have them ready and set up somewhere so you can add goodies to them over the next few month when you find things

Ok, let's see if this works. I'll need you to focus on the watch and my voice osuche. Just relax and focus on the watch and my voice.
You want to go to Catalina.............................
You want to have drinks with IowaMan on the beach.....................
You want to go to the little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant for lunch.............
Is that working, cuz if it is I've got a whole bunch of other good stuff to suggest. :p
Here are a couple of pics I took last time I was on Catalina. Sort of a hazy day.

Here I though IowaMan would suggest you make a quick flight to Iowa to see his collection of kittens. Oh well, Catalina is a good choice, too. :)
What about a quick trip up to Tahoe or, closer to home, take in a bed and breakfast in Sausalito. I love Sausalito.

I only know Santa Catalina from the media, but it looks like somewhere you'd like to be.
You probably don't have time for a return trip to Darwin, dammit.
