View Full Version : Welcome to the Cathouse!

IowaMan

Noah's got her ark and since SOMEBODY dubbed me the Cat Man, I thought I'd share with you a look inside The Cathouse. :p

The kittens were 2 weeks old yesterday and and are doing just great and melt my heart each time I look at them or hear their little meows. :D

We have a little nightly ritual here at the Cathouse, each kitten has to be weighed so we can see if they're eating enough. Plus, they just look so damn cute in the scale! Should I perhaps have put these pics in our "Pixies Power" thread? :p

I haven't named them since I'm trying my best not to get too attached to them ( yeah, that's going well) but I will warn you that three of them look nearly identical. And did I mention that they are cute? :D

IowaMan
04-10-2008, 05:58 PM
Of course permission is needed in order to snap all of these pictures. Gabby doesn't mind if they little ones get a little bit of attention. She'll lay around and watch TV while I snap the pics.

After a bit though, she decides that the paparazzi must go! :yikes:

Kiddo thought they were in a blender at first.

I give you another 30 days before you name them. :D

IowaMan
04-10-2008, 06:10 PM
Nope, no blender. And they've all reached the half pound mark. :cheerlead

You honestly think I'll last 30 days before I name them? I've gotta think the over/under in Vegas is 14. :roflmao:

Scarecrow

First thought on one of the gray kittens was Shadow. Just seemed to fit.
For another, Rebel came to mind.

I give him 11 days til he names them all. :p

My bet is that he'll start naming them early next week, but not settle on good names for all of them immediately.

LixyChick
04-11-2008, 04:39 AM
Awwwwwwww...I would have named them by now!

Lilith
04-11-2008, 04:39 AM
Despite protests I believe like SDLS he already has an idea.

The last one that is solid blue/gray looks like a Russian Blue.

04-11-2008, 07:49 AM
harpo, groucho, zeppo, gummo, or chico. or minnie or frenchy.

those are my ideas, and if you don't like them... well, i have others

honk honk. :D

IowaMan
04-11-2008, 08:00 AM
I know I can't use Shadow. One of my best friends has a cat named Shadow and that would just get too confusing. :wobbly:

Nice honkers wyndhy! :D

IowaMan
04-11-2008, 09:36 AM
I almost got them all to look at me for a group picture. The way they are constantly crawling all over each other and their mommy, this may be as close as I'll get.

Here's also a picture of another frequent visitor to The Cathouse. His name is BB Kitty..... I'm pretty creative, he's black & brown so I call him BB Kitty! :D He stopped by this morning to get out of the wind and rain and have a bite to eat at The Cathouse Bar & Grill. :p

And yeah, I know, my whiskers are whiter than BB Kitty's. :boohoo:

Loulabelle
04-11-2008, 09:43 AM
I want ALL of them.

It's my birthday next month - can you send kitties by fed-ex?!

Neige
04-11-2008, 09:51 AM
I want all of them too and my birthday is in just 2 weeks!!!!!! :D

IowaMan
04-11-2008, 02:41 PM
If I can manage to win the lottery this weekend, I believe I could turn this into a nice little vacation. Stop off in Montreal to deliver Neige's birthday present and then across the pond to the Pucker residence to get Lou's to her. :D

I'm not absolutely sure but I'm willing to bet that this "little" fella is the daddy to Gabby's kittens. He was hanging around an awful lot back when Gabby first started coming around here. Come to find out he belongs to one of my neighbors. I would've thought at least one of the kittens would look like him but I guess it all depends upon the genetics.

And nope wyndhy, I actually like the names you came up with. They seem very fitting as I sit here watching the kittens climb all over each other. They look like they're putting on a little comedy skit. :p

IowaMan
04-13-2008, 10:26 AM
No names for the little ones as of yet.............. last night I had a couple of visitors stop by to see them and I think I may have found a home for one of them. :(

Well, if I can actually get myself to break up the quartet when the time comes. ;)

dicksbro
04-15-2008, 06:28 AM
Those kittens are sure precious.

IowaMan
04-15-2008, 05:08 PM
Gotta say that I do like those names OF. :thumb:

Had to snap another one of the little critters at play. Only got one of them to actually look at the camera but it sure is a cutie. :p

IowaMan
04-15-2008, 05:10 PM
And just so you all know, I haven't stopped paying attention to my Lou since the kittens have arrived. He still gets all of the love and attention he desires, and then some.

Having the kittens around seems to tire him out though. Last night he was barely able to get his teeth brushed before falling asleep!

dicksbro
04-15-2008, 06:10 PM
Love OF's names, too. :roflmao:

Cute new picture, IM! If we didn't have two already, we'd probably get in line. :)

IowaMan
04-16-2008, 12:43 PM
The kittens are 3 weeks old today! :loveshowe

I finally was able to get a shot of them where all four were looking at the camera.......... sort of. :p

And I also snapped one of Gabby taking a little break to look out the window at a beautiful Spring day while the kittens napped for a bit.

IowaMan
04-18-2008, 06:54 PM
Still haven't name the little ones............... I'm getting very tempted though as they are really starting to react to me when they see me. :p

Their little teeth are starting to come in, I'm thinking Gabby isn't really enjoying that. Poor kitty, she just lays there and takes it.

Snapped a pic of each of them a few minutes ago in their nightly weigh in again. Thought you'd like to see how/if they've grown from the last time you saw them in "the blender".

One pic of each of them.

IowaMan
04-18-2008, 06:59 PM
You know, I don't remember if I've shown you guys Fluffy. She's looking like she's going to add to my household any day now.

wyndhy
04-22-2008, 01:49 PM
it's more than three so he's already screwed. :D

IowaMan
04-22-2008, 05:31 PM
Yep, good call wyndhy. :yikes:

Well, as of right now there's: Lou, Gabby, the 4 kittens and Fluffy that are staying inside. BB Kitty lives outside and Big Orange drops by every other day or so.

Fluffy looks like she swallowed a cantaloupe so I'm guessing there's at least 4 more on the way.

PantyFanatic
04-22-2008, 06:25 PM

Are you another one of Sharniqua's alias/doubles?

IowaMan
04-24-2008, 05:24 PM
You know what PF, I'm starting to think that just maybe I am!

When I got home from my lung specialist about an hour ago...... <gulp>

.......... there were three more kittens! Fluffy decided to have them in the box with Gabby and her kittens. Looks like Gabs helped her deliver (thank god, I can't believe I wasn't here for it!). She had a 4th not too long ago and I'm thinking there may be another on the way. :loveshowe

Or should that last smiley be :boohoo:

I'll get some pics a bit later but it looks like right now there are 2 calico, 1 tuxexdo/caleco mix and a gray one. :D

And Soda, yes dear, I am the CatMan. :wobbly:

IowaMan
04-24-2008, 07:07 PM
Looks like the final tally is four newborns. Let's see......... that makes, Lou, Gabby, her four kittens, Fluffy and her four kittens living inside now. Eleven is a lucky number, right? :wish:

Plus BB Kitty is still my daily visitor. May as well call it an even dozen. :faint:

Here's a couple of pics. First of Fluffy this morning before she had the kittens. She got into the box with Gabby and her kittens and was apparently practicing for her mommy duties later this afternoon. Then one of three of the kittens.

And don't worry, mommy and kittens have fresh, clean bedding to sleep on now that all of the activity has ended. :p

I'm thinking I'm going to have a Telethon over Memorial Day weekend to raise money for IowaMan's kids. :p

The little ones (and their mommy) made it through their first night without incident. :loveshowe

And surprise, surprise I took a couple of pics of them this morning. One of my Lou that just cracks me up too. :p

I caught this little one earlier today when I got home from grocery shopping. He had figured out how to get out of the box and then found Lou's little kitty condo (that he's never used and wouldn't fit in now if he tried) and decided to check it out.

Hey IM...I just wanna know "why" there are so many baby pictures on here that I don't have??? "Auntie Linda" is feeling a bit left out of the loop since I haven't been able to be on the computer so much (Damn leg, anyway!!) Oh, and in case I forgot to mention...birthing season has begun at my house as well...Mama/Grandma "blessed" us with the first of this seasons litters...4 little ones, this time, with AT LEAST 4 more kitten/mamas due to "bless" us any day now. I do believe "Auntie Linda" will have more than enough kitty pics waiting for her the next time she checks her email. :p

Gabby's kittens will be 7 weeks old this Wednesday. Won't be long until I'll have to get them to the shelter if I can't find any takers for them. Can't say I'm looking forward to that day. :(

They are now running all about and just cute as can be. We're still working on the whole concept of litter box training. They seem to really enjoy getting in the box and playing but then waiting until they get back out of the box to do their business. :hair:

Luckily the carpet in their room is so old it doesn't really make a heck of a lot of difference. Yep, it's absolutely hideous! :yikes: Seems to be a theme with the carpet in this old place. One of these days.........:wish:

The last pic of this group is of Fluffy & Gabby taking a bit of time off to relax with a catnip toy. Yep, these kittens have driven them to the hard stuff.

Nice looking dog. Too bad dogs and cats don't get along better. We get the same reaction from our cats when our daughter and her family stop by with their little dog. Our "Stud" (who probably outweighs the dog 3:1) runs into our son's bedroom and hides under the bed. Our "Jasmine" will just sit there staring at the dog and swatting it if it comes too close. She's just as small or smaller than the dog.

IowaMan
05-19-2008, 12:32 PM
Oh Lil, what a pretty kitty! I love those big eyes!

Yeah, that dog was absolutely beautiful. I guess he lives here in the neighborhood. I thought it may be my new neighbor's who are fixing up the house next door but I guess it had just gotten loose from it's home and my neighbors had attached him to the little tree so he wouldn't run away. Very friendly fella, he plopped right down onto his side so I could scratch his tummy when I held out my hand. lol

Just have a safe trip, Soda. It's only 47-days until Nashville.

Poor kittens. Too bad that at least a few weren't selected by friends and neighbors. They're such precious little animals.

IowaMan
07-18-2008, 03:09 PM
Well, I took the majority of the kittens to the shelter the other day. :(

I'm sure they'll end up with great homes, I just hope they aren't too upset that they'll be living a little bit less of a luxurious life for a little bit. Pretty sure they only get dry cat food there, I'm positive they won't be pleased with that.

Anyway, I did keep one kitten from each litter. From the first litter I kept the little all gray one, Lil says she's a Russian Blue. Her name is Dominique.

From the second litter I kept a little furball I like to call a Tuxico since she's sort of a calico version of a tuxedo cat. Her name is Socks.

So now the cathouse is down to five kitties. :yikes:

dicksbro
07-18-2008, 05:16 PM
I think you made a wise choice, IowaMan. Those two kittens are absolutely precious!

This is our most recent visitor to the cathouse. I've always been a fan of Agatha Christie and I named him after one of her characters. His name is Hercule. I thought he looked French so I named him Hercule. (Yes, I know Hercule Poirot was Belgian.) Plus, he meows back to me when I call him mon ami. :p

Anyway, Hercule is a very, very nice kitty but he's not in the best of health. He's very underweight and had some sort of lump on his back that burst about a week ago. So.......... I clean his wound everyday and do my best to dress it for him. He doesn't mind at all, just stands there purring.

And yep, Hercule likes to give me a hand when I'm trying to do work in the flower bed. He likes to play with the weeds after I pull them out.

IowaMan
09-15-2008, 03:55 PM
Here are a couple of recent ones of the kitties. I swear in the first one that Lou is saying to me, "Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition!" Ok, perhaps I've watched too much Monty Python over the years.

Pic #2 is Dominique giving me what seems to be a dirty look but she was actually pretty happy at the time of the pic. Not liking the flash so much though.

Then there's Dom and her bestest buddy Socks cuddling together.

#4 is Gabby, Dominique's mom. Finally got one where she didn't squint because of the flash.

Can't say the same about Fluffy (Socks' mom) in the last pic.

When I worked at Sikorsky Aircraft(in Conn),one of my nicknames was also
"Catman" but it was because I drank so much "Pink Pussycat" wine.Yesterday was 14yrs3mos since I quit Alcohol & other drugs! Irish :thumb:

Today we're celebrating Lou's 2nd birthday. They told me he was 8 mo. old when I adopted him and that was in Aug '07 so I figure today is as good a day as any to spoil him.

Here he is earlier today watching my printer at work. He's absolutely fascinated with that thing.

As long as he doesn't decide to go after that carriage head that most likely looks like a critter to him...

Reminds me of the first time Riley was in the room when the printer started up...startled her, she took off running, then turned & gave it a quick "WOOF!" ...from the safety of the doorway, of course...

Politics isn't a topic that comes up very often here at the Cat House but I got the distinct impression this afternoon while watching the inauguration that just maybe Socks and Fluffy are Republican. They didn't appear overjoyed with the pomp and circumstance that was going on in Washington. :roflmao:

Fluffy almost looks upset. Are you sure Fluffy wasn't expecting dinner invitations to the White House and then didn't get them?

Well, it was a year ago yesterday that my Gabby had her kittens. Since Dominique is the only one I kept of her litter, I thought I'd show you a then and now of her. Like anybody thought I could possibly let her birthday go by without posting pics.

Yep, she weighed 2 oz. and easily fit into the palm of my hand the day she was born and now she's a beautiful grown kitty. And she's not blurry anymore either! :lmao:

Thought I'd throw the one in of her mommy on the anniversary of the big day too. And no, I don't usually keep old moving boxes out in the house but if I were to put that one away, those cats would kill me! :yikes:

Not a very pleasant day here today.

Last summer a stray kitty started coming around and it was obvious that he wasn't in very good health. I fed him and gave him love and he would just never go away. He was always there at the door first thing every morning to get some love and breakfast. As nice of a kitty as you could ever find.

He got pretty sick a few months back so I took him to my vet and she took care of him for almost two months. He had FIV, feline HIV, and was having a terrible time with the runs. Poor guy just couldn't control when he would go and it was obvious that not much was working right for him on the insides.

I brought him back home with me in Feb. and took care of him again. It wasn't an easy task because he was pretty messy and required almost daily baths but he was so loving and such a happy kitty.

Hercule passed away overnight. I'm going to miss him so very much. :(

Rest in peace old friend. I love you Hercule.
