Today and tonight have had a lot of activity far above the minute covering where most of the scuffle happens on this planet. A tiny piece of metal with earth base life forms has returned (http://www.aviationweek.com/aw/generic/story.jsp?id=news/LAND02208.xml&headline=Atlantis%20Lands%20on%20First%20Opportunity&channel=space) from an excursion to a abnormally sparse environment.

The familiar bright light of our moon is lurking in the shadow (http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news/story.html?id=11e06655-73f7-43c4-ac0f-11e8782fa4fb&k=70362) of our own fat self right now.

We have some people that want to practice their marksmanship (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=19211087) at a target moving 17,000 mph.

Lot of interesting activity up there.

I got to see the moon when someone had taken a little bite out of her. I forgot to tell the Lost Boys to watch her tonight. I'm slipping.

Just heard that the Navy's first shot was a hit, do not know the amount of damage yet.

They're claiming a hit, a palpable hit. (sorry Shakespeare)

we woke up our oldest. it took her 5 minutes to find the moon in the sky.
three seconds later she was back asleep. lol

she's bummed the satellite won't hit earth. she thought that would have been neat. maybe it would have landed in our yard and she could check it out.

space travel to a millennial baby is blase.

Yeah, mine weren't too happy when I woke them up at 4 a.m. to watch the asteroid shower which I found out years later... at the time I believe I bragged on here how much our oldest enjoyed seeing it. He said he didn't want to hurt my feelings because I was so excited about sharing the event with him at the time..

And Scaled Composites ( http://www.scaled.com/ ) wants to shoot some hapless, unsuspecting millionaires into space later on this year.

Now, *that's* exciting!

Do they have more satellites they need shooting down?

Are hapless millionaires cheaper or more effective that kinetic penetrators?

Hey, if they do things right, the hapless millionaires will be the kinetic penetrators!

Only the hardened capitalists among them.
