God gave us silky panties for our ladies, raspberries and then ice cream as rewards in life.

I am not somebody that wants one food to taste like another but neither am I the purest you may first think. I like to view it more as 'ordered'. :D My coffee doesn't need to be aerated, carbonated or flavored with fruits or nuts to make it taste like something else. Coffee IS a flavor, and that's what I want in my cup. I have a hunch if I drank tea, I would feel the same way about that.

Ice cream on the other hand is NOT a flavor. It's the condition or state of a basic dairy product. Cold and creamy are the primary properties of ice cream and would be much lacking without a flavor.:eew: I don't care for my ice cream to be of the Cracker Jack variety with prizes of candy, gumballs or other trinkets or treats, but I DO want it to have a flavor and I'm open to more than just traditional basics.

Some of my favorites from the classic list is vanilla-cherry and of course chocolate. It takes some selective hunting, but some of the newer flavors have proven to be worth the testing.:) Two of my recent explorations that are moving towards my staple list are from Ben & Jerry's. There is a 'Baileys' which is a chocolate fudge with a very distinctive Bailey's Irish Cream flavor. The other is the related 'Dublin Mudslide' that is Irish Cream liqueur ice cream with chocolate and chocolate chip cookies and a coffee fudge swirl. :bite:

So what is among your favorite ice cream flavors?

i really like plain old vanilla, but i also like it with crushed up peanuts, chocolate or caramel sauce (or both) and whipped cream. spare me the sprinkles. i hate sprinkles. they taste like wax.

as for the fancy flavors, ben and jerry's karamel sutra is so, so, so good. can't figure out how they keep the caramel from freezing ... prolly poison of some sort ... but who cares if i'm eating antifreeze - the stuff is just that amazing.

i had a dish of blueberry icecream after we went blueberry picking last summer, they made it right there using their own berries. it was orgasmic.

Cotton candy ice cream is sooooooooooooooo good!!!!!! :D

Really, I'm not too fussy, but I prefer flavours without nuts.

chocolate is my most favorite

I too love the Dublin Mudslide from the two sexiest men alive.

I also love their Phish Food and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

My guess on the caramel is that the sugar/corn syrup content is so high that it just does not harden.

French vanilla is definitely a favorite. I've also put a little Cinammon Schnapps on plain vanilla and it was delicious. :)

French vanilla with warm chocolate sauce and pecans is my favorite way to have ice cream

I also love chocolate either plain, rocky road, or mint chocolate chip

Cookie dough is a good one too.

I also really love orange sherbet. Does that count as ice cream? :D

My all time favorite is Strawberry Cheesecake from Hudsonville Ice Cream (http://www.hudsonvilleicecream.com/ice%20cream/halfgal4.asp?icecreamID=30) it's made locally and you can only find it in west Michigan. I've tried other Strawberry Cheesecake ice creams but they are never quite as good.

I also really enjoy Starbuck's Java Chip (http://www.starbucks.com/grocery/javachip.asp) it's a really good coffee flavored ice cream. I've tried a few other coffee ice cream but none of them are as good as this is.

Plain ole chocolate for me. Regular vanilla is alight, too as long as I add hersheys syrup, mix it up and turn it into chocolate =)

Coffee flavored (Haagen Das is good) and I also love cinnamon-flavored ice cream. Graeter's makes a good one (PF is just about the only person on this thread who will be able to appreciate that reference)

I like the Hagen Daaz Coffee ice cream.. yum

I also like French vanilla ice cream with peanut butter & chocolate chips.. :-)

Plain chocolate is pretty good too, but it has to be Blue Bunny... it is more of a milk chocolate and very smooth.

I believe my all-time favorite would be Blue Bell's Banana Split ice cream, unfortunately I can't get it where I live now. :(

I love a good rocky road, banana, peach and of course Breyer's Vanilla. :slurp:

And I'll second Osuche's motion on Graeter's Ice Cream. Haven't had the cinnamon, but what I have had is very, very good.

"i really like plain old vanilla"

There is nothing plain about vanilla, it is a strong and wonderful flavour, woefully underappreciated.

Milk has a flavour, and whether it is a milk milkshake or milk icecream (real full cream milk flavour, not the 2% stuff forced on me in the USA), it is a subtle but satisfying experience.

I've been a lifetime Butter Pecan addict, sadly the closest I can get to it now is Breyer's low carb B.P. sweetened with Splenda...it's ok, & it's a nice treat when you've been on a sugar restricted diet, but every so often I still long for the flavor explosion in my mouth of the real thing. And I can't risk getting into a carton of real BP, cuz there's no one else in the house that would keep me from pigging out on the whole thing...

2nd favorite: Fudge Ripple, hands down...the separate-but-equal extremes of pure vanilla & hardcore chocolate vying for supremecy, or, if you prefer, democratize the bowl by stirring & mixing until it's just a chocolate shake...

And of course, honorable mention goes to a recipe for good ole homemade vanilla that came with the instruction manual for our electric freezer...the details escape me at the moment, but it involves about 4 cups of heavy whipping cream & 2 cups of half & half...so rich, it oughta be in a higher tax bracket...

Now that you mention it, Butter Pecan is another favorite.

I'm beginning to think that I'm fairly partial to a lot of flavors. :rolleyes2

My favorite is peppermint stick ice cream with hot fudge!! MMmmm....

Close second choices would be: Snickers ice cream, Ben & Jerry's Phish Food, well almost anything chocolate i guess. :)

I'll have to look for just Milk flavored ice cream in my dairy case.

It's called ice milk mostly used by restaurants while making milk shakes. You most likely won't find it in the dairy case at the local stores grocery. Unless you stop into a specialty place because most of the local grocery stores here in the state only care middle of the road dreck that they can sell a lot of.

I have made my own ice cream in small batches and played with flavours like, anis, licorice, cinnamon, cardamom, and jasmine green tea. I have to agree with lilith, vanilla with Hershey's syrup is yum.I like to add a liberal handfull of Planters cocktail peanuts to the mix. A few miles north is the city of Gilroy, famous for it's garlic festival and it's garlic ice cream...Go figure.

my favorite currently is cookies and cream ... funny, cause I'm not much of an oreos fan, but I find them wonderful crushed up in vanilla ice cream.

I saw one on a television program recently - it was Paula Deen's sons' show and they were in Maine (I believe) and they had LOBSTER ice cream.... they said it wasn't bad, but I'm sorry, that just seems so WRONG to me! :)

I enjoy ginger ice cream whenever I can find it. It's appeared on the menu of a local place a few times but not with any consistency so I guess it's hit or miss.

I love B&J's Apple Pie ice cream and Chunky Monkey too but the walnuts in Chunky Monkey make my mouth all tingly. I think I'm allergic. Nuts leave a foul taste in my mouth. :roflmao:
