So, the Washington Capitals are off to their worst season start in since 1981. They've lost five in a row, and last night, their defeat was to the divisional rivals, the Atlanta Thrashers, 5-1.

The Verizon center echoed with the chant "Fire Hanlon!" (Glan Hanlon, thier head coach).

Management listened to the fans. Of course, with Hanlon's record, it's possible that the upper management were the fans, and were leading the chant.

Interim head Coach is Bruce Boudreau, until yesterday, the head coach of the AHL-affiliate Hershey Bears.

The Montreal Canadiens are in 4th place in the points standings so far... It was being said before the season began that the Habs would not get to the Playoffs this year, but I'd say they've shown so far that they have a good chance of getting there!!!!!

I won 16$ off Higgins' goal Monday night against Ottawa in a pool to guess which Canadien was to score the next goal!!!

I sure wish we had an NHL team closer to where I live. I can occasionally see a Black Hawks game on the satellite but that's about it. :(

So you still don't get to see any real hockey.

Does this count as Ice Hockey Talk? :hockey:

Two boys are playing hockey on a frozen pond in Cleveland when one is suddenly attacked by a rabid Rottweiler. Thinking quickly, the other boy takes his stick and shoves it under the dogs collar, twists it and breaks the dog's neck, saving his friend.

A reporter who was strolling by sees the incident. He approaches the boys and congratulates the heroic youth. He tells the young man that he's a reporter and tells him "I'm going to have the headline read..."Indians Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal," then begins writing in his notebook.

"But, I'm not an Indians fan", the little hero replied.

"Sorry, thought all Cleveland kids were," said the reporter and he starts again. "Browns Fan Rescues Friend >From Horrific Attack," he continued writing in his notebook.

"I'm not a Browns fan either," the boy said.

"Oh, I assumed everyone in Cleveland was either for the Indians or the Browns. What team do you root for?" the reporter asked

"I'm a Steelers fan," the child said.

The reporter starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes:

"Little Bastard From Pennsylvania Kills Beloved Family Pet."

So, the Caps won their first game under the interim coach. Yeah, they had to go to vertime to do it, but it's still two points.

So Crosby is still keeping the Pens in it, at least somewhat. I think he's 4th in the east right now. Our record is so so but....

You'll have to come to Peoria and take in a Riverman game.
