I admit that I thought some of the complaints about Comcast were exaggerated, but then I read this (http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5gxRiQSVfgK4sLbVRE_X4MOlM9q0AD8SCASPG0)! :yikes:

It's for our own good. We need to be protected, you know.

They don't call it "Comcrap" for nothing.

When my son uses certain gaming programs our cable suddenly drops.

In Allegheny Co., western Pa., Comcast has decided to move some channels from one tier to another. Not unusual you think until it was discovered it applied to certain zip codes while others were not affected. Imagine having to buy a higher tier to get a particular channel while the zip code next to you has it coming from the same cable provider on a lower priced tier. Unfortunately, some communities are locked into only one cable provider and have no other choice.

Why do you think I call it "Crap Cast"? Don't get the cable either, they profile you based on the programs you watch. :p And no, I am *not* paranoid. Much :D

I do long for a world where people have privacy, again.

osuche,

What price are we willing to pay for that privacy?

Apparently more than the $114 I am paying now :p

Remember when deregulation of the cable companies was supposed to be a good thing? We were told the free market would sort it out and we'd pay less and get more because of the competition.

In this era of micro-regulation, how is there a "free market"?

I remember that Congress overrode Bush's veto of that act.

It appears that the only thing the act didn't anticipate was capitalism.

I dont' worry aobut the blocking so much as I worry about the monitoring and reporting.

I'd comment, but Comcrap might be listening in & block me.

A long, but good read. My problem with Comcast is that it's the only method available at the moment for getting online. Remedies are available to me, but, the cash to make remedies efficacious is not.
