For those of you unfamiliar with his history, Mr. Chambers is informally known as the Preppy Killer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preppy_Killer).

He was released from prison after serving his entire sentence (because he lost his good behavior time for drug infractions while imprisoned) and a year later was in court again for driving with a suspended license...and being in possession of heroin and cocaine. He was sentenced to and served 100 days in jail.

Well, Mr. Chambers is once again in the custody of law enforcement officials for possession of a significant amount of cocaine.

What I find interesting is that the female arrested with him, Shawn Covell, was one of four lingerie clad girls previously seen in a video taped slumber party that Mr. Chambers also attended. He moved in with and has been living with her since the time of his release in 2003.

In my opinion, the real story is "What was/is Ms. Covell thinking?". She waited 15 years for him. Then 100 more days. And now stands to be sentenced to her very own prison term of up to 10 years.

Doesn't she have that little voice in her head that says "This is a bad idea"?

Why would someone knowingly put and keep themselves in a situation like that? Any ideas?

because they are kindred spirits. doesn't sound to me as if she's got a badboy fetish, she just sounds like a loser.

I can see how it could be romanticized. Girl is enamored with boy, boy gets sent to jail after being "railroaded" for the accidental death of a girl that enjoyed rough sex, girl waits 15 years for boy to be freed.....and he gets arrested on drug charges the following year.

To me...the lustre would've worn off at that point and I would've said "what the hell am I doing with my life?" and not wait around for this release from jail, much less continue to be involved with him during the commission of yet another felony...one that puts me at risk for jail time too!

I think wyndhy has the right idea... they're perfect for each other.

It's an unfortunate thing that some people are so desperate to have someone else run their life that they willingly allow that person to run it into the ditch!

You have to feel bad for her at the beginning of the story, but so many years into it and she's still behaving as if no time has passed, no life lessons learned, no accountability for her own life. Hope she finally gains some understanding having experienced this latest event!
