I have a lot of posts on 'Dumb Shit' and 'Pissed Off' threads and thought we might need a thread for those FEW times we don't screw it up or things actually go like they are described.
This past week I was having problems being dropped by my ISP that's been going on for a while.:hair: It was one of those gradual things that started a month ago with it happening once a week.......... then twice a week.........and on and on until the last few days it was every couple hours the modem is flashing, trying to make connection. Friday night I poke around at my system for an hour to see what I'm doing different and even swap out my modem in the morning with the same results.
I finally bit the bullet and called the world of automated service. :banghead: I dialed the number (only the people that DIDN'T want English was offered and alternative), I gave verbal replies to a few concise questions and was talking to a very legible young lady in the Philippines. I didn't have to repeat anything and she seemed to have my specific records available to confirm my system hadn't been changed. After a brief statement of what my issue is, she took less than two minutes to run a test from the other side of the planet to confirm my statement. She transferred me directly to a line technician in St. Louise that picked up right where we left off and without reading from the preprinted script, congenially told me what he was doing on his end. He had me confirm what my modem was showing as he ran remote annalistic checks and attempted to make some reconnections from his location for more stable temporary service. He couldn't assure me that the confirmed line problem between my home and the local switching office would be done before Monday due to the weekend. Two hours later I get a call from a gentlemen that tells me the job is complete and gives me a LOCAL name and phone number if I have any further problems.
For once I have to give SBC Global (AT&T) a big "ata boy"
