Al Gore, Vice-president in the first & second Clinton administrations, and activist in the climate change debate, has been awarded part of this year’s Nobel Peace prize (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7041082.stm)! The Nobel selection committee praised Mr. Gore as "probably the single individual who has done most to create greater worldwide understanding of the measures that need to be adopted".

He shares the award with the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which was chosen for "their efforts to build up and disseminate greater knowledge about man-made climate change".

As the great Buford T. Justice once said,

"What in the hell is the world coming to?"

Politics aside...can't we just recognize good when it is actually good?

Peeps...Al Gore has opened so many people's eyes. I'm not talking you and me. I'm talking the authority!

Talk about things that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm?????

Make fun all you want...but at least he helped.

What have you done for the earth lately?

^^^ Things that make you go...um...hmmm...um...I gotta stop complaining and get to making a difference!!!!

I was not a fan of Al Gore's and I've heard that there's some question about parts of the documentary ... but, the truth is, he has definitely called attention to the threat of global warming in a way that most of us can relate to. For that, he certainly deserves credit and I'm not too proud to admit it. Congratulations, Mr. Gore!

Here, I thought global warming was a function of seeing Lixy's AV. I know it made me feel warm. :)

Nothing against Al Gore, but can anyone tell me what Global Warming has to do with The Nobel PEACE Prize.

Reasonable points. As is often the case on this issue, exagerations were made (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/education/7037671.stm) to get the point across. However, there are reasonable people who do consider climate change/global warming a security/peace issue (http://www.npr.org/documents/2007/apr/security_climate.pdf).
