Wondering how many pixies out there feel they have some type of paranormal gift and how long they have had it? When did you realize it?

I have had experiences of some kind that I do not understand with people I loved who passed. I do not think I am truly psychic but I read people very well.

naw, i think when i do get some weird feelings, it's just the seemingly superfluous 90% of my brain that remains unexplored and unexplained by brains bigger and badder than mine streching it's atrophied muscles.

Neige

Nope, I don't keep a journal. I remember that it peaked around this time 3 years ago, when I had just moved from home to go to med school. At that point it would happen a couple of times a day. Nowadays though, it only happens maybe once a month or every two months.

I've never really had anything else weird happen to me, but odd things have happened to my grandfather. Let me tell you a few stories...

One night, he was woken up twice by someone calling his name (which my grandmother denies having done, and believably so cuz she was asleep at the time). The next morning, his sister had died.

He tells of a friend who had died. Before this friend died, my grandfather told him to come back after he was dead and tell him the winning lottery numbers. Not long after this friend had passed away, my grandfather got a flash of a bunch of numbers in his head. He wrote them down, and the next day he went and bought a lottery ticket with those numbers. He lost and thought no more of it until the next week's lottery numbers were called... and those were the numbers that had flashed through his head. (No, he had not bought a lottery ticket the following week.)

He claims to have known that something was going to happen when my uncle died right after Christmas. During the whole holidays, he kept confusing my name, my sister's, my mother's and my grandmother's together (to which I was a witness - I don't think he called me by my name twice the whole time, and my grandfather still has all his wits). This confusion of names supposedly often happens to him before the death of a family member.

Coincidence? Imagination? Something real and really freaky? Who knows?

wyndhy, é is ALT+130, à is ALT+133 ;)

Mae
09-07-2007, 05:23 PM
That sounds like quite a remarkable pattern. Was this ability passed down to anyone else in the family?

Neige
09-07-2007, 05:31 PM
Well my mother once thought she saw the ghost/spirit of an aunt that had passed away a couple of days before the occurrence, but she always said she wasn't sure whether she really saw something or whether she was dreaming. Apart from that, no one else in the family exhibits anything like that (as far as I know).

Lilith
09-07-2007, 10:42 PM
I can instantly tell whther some things/objects/places have good or bad "karma." I bought my mother, who had dificulty learning to read, a pair of old, antique reading glasses in a case that were very old but I was convinced they belonged with her now and that the positive vibes of the person who had worn them and read many important and not so important things through them, still carried on.

I also am unable to stay at my sister in law's old B & B. The house feels evil and I have no idea of the history but I believe I actually became physically ill when I tried to sleep there once. My MIL will not stay there either.

Actually I have had this gift most of my life and just didn't know there was a name for it. It only seems to work with special objects for me.Psychometry~

Psychometry is a psychic ability in which a person can sense or "read" the history of an object by touching it. Such a person can receive impressions from an object by holding it in his/her hands or, perhaps, touching it to the.... forehead. Such impressions can be perceived as images, sounds, smells, tastes - even emotions.
..... but I have to suck on them.

Well...HIYA Mae!

Geezzzzzzz...Mae and BabyBunny in the same thread. It's like old home week!

My mother had the ability to "read" people through a deck of plain ole playing cards. She never charged for readings and had many repeat customers for as long as I can remember. We had reading night at my house once a week for years. There was never less than 15 people and usually more. She never turned anyone away and read into the night if necessary. The customers insisted on paying her and she insisted she could never charge for a "God given" ability (<---her words).

The "customers" would bring her gifts since she wouldn't take money, and even some of those she returned graciously because they were very expensive.

Her only restriction in a reading was that she wouldn't divulge a person's death if she saw it. She'd always insist that they see a doctor for specific problems, even if the person was unaware of anything wrong. For example...once she told a male customer to get his prostate checked. Back in those days it wasn't the norm for men to have such exams unless it came along with an exam due to other, related/unrelated symptoms. After he left she told me he had cancer and was going to die because it had gone undiagnosed. She rarely told me stuff like this but it really upset her this time. He was a dear friend of one of mom's dearest friends and she didn't know how or if she should tell her friend. The man died less than a year later.

I've picked up some of her intuition, as did my baby sis. I don't explore it like mom did...but I probably could if I set my mind to it.

I think I am decidedly, profoundly normal. There have been events of deja vu and intuition in my life that I have been unable to explain, but not so many of them that I believe I have special abilities. When I was about 13, my grandmother died and I knew it before we had been notified....I woke up about 3 in the morning and felt her presence, knew she was dead...but that was one occurrance out of many that I should have known if I had been truly psychic.

I do believe that our brains process much more information than we give them credit for, and that we're all more capable than we like to believe.

My father passed away in "91" and was in the VA Hospital. On that night my mother decided she wanted to go home and rest a bit but wanted supper before that. While at supper my mom stopped eating and sat there for a moment and then had a cold shiver. She finished supper and I took her back to her place. The answering machine was blinking and it was the VA, they needed us to come back as my father had passed away. Found out it was the exact time my mother stopped eating supper and had her shiver.

Thats the only time I remember anything out of the normal.

I've had strange experiences of predicting future events. Sometimes in dreams, and once, when I was a very young child (about 6 or 7) in a story I wrote for school which described exactly this event (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Herald_of_Free_Enterprise) several years before it happened. My mother only realised years after the event when she found an old school book of mine with the story in it.

I also predicted the very large tree in front of my parents' house coming down in high winds. When I warned my mum I was told 'Oh no that tree will never come down. It's been there long before us and it'll be there long after us too'. A few years later one of its limbs came down in high winds and crushed a caravan and a car. Once it was stripped of its branches and the main trunk that fell was taken away it weighed 2 tons.

Most recently, I dreamt of my Grandmother scaling a hill to reach a beautiful cottage with a lovely garden and a stunning view of the hillside. My mum and I helped her up (as she's very infirm these days) and she was very tired but incredibly peaceful when she reached the top. I awoke and phoned my mum to go check on her. She was (and still is) fine, but I have this weird feeling now that when the time eventually comes, that's where she will go and I'll know that she's safe and happy in the most beautiful place I've ever seen.

Had an experience with my grandmother. We held her 90th birthday party at my house. She was using a cane at the time, as her back had really been bothering her. I was standing behind her and held my hand about 4 inches from her spine and moved my hand up and down the area. She didn't know I was behind her. She just "felt something", she told me. She turned around quickly and saw what I was doing. She grabbed my hand and it was glowing bright red. Never happened before or since then. It took her awhile before she wanted to speak to me again. But, her back didn't bother her for awhile. :)

I'm not uncomfortable with the subject, just very skeptical...my wife claims to have had several experiences with relatives that have just passed, including a moment after my mother died when Mrs Zoid claimed to have heard her say "Take care of my boys..."

Myself, I 'd like to believe that I could communicate with the departed...got a few things to get off my chest ;)

Mae

Interesting about Mrs. Zoid, Scotts. That can be an altering "moment" for one's thoughts. And, I can understand your skepticism. Some of the more prominent psychics have fallen back on theatrics. That one show from England, "Most Haunted" I think it's called; bills itself as entertainment. That keeps them from being debunked or from attempting to concentrate on building their skills. Many psychics or mediums fall back on reading body language and facial expressions. You'd be amazed at what you give away when you think you are perfectly still. One thing I do believe...if you truly have the gift, you should not charge money or expect remuneration of any kind for what you do. It can taint the gift. I figure this is what has happened to those that charge upwards of $300 for a reading. I find that outrageous and exploitive of human emotions. I'd better step off the soapbox, now. :)

BTW...this all just my own humble opinion. No offense intended towards anyone. :)

I've definitely met people whom immediately felt uncomfortable with. One person in particular whom I would never have trusted with children. Possibly horribly unfair to him, but I just didn't like the vibe he gave off.

Having said that, none of them have been really 'psychic' feelings, just usual human reactions to people who aren't socially competent or who just seem suspicious to me. In other words, pretty much the average human response to any/all politicians!

I found my small deck of tarot cards. I used to use a regular deck of playing cards for readings years and years ago. Kind of rusty at this kind of thing. A good psychic, many years ago, told me I would do well to look into a bowl of water or still water. Hopefully not face first? Anyway, I may have a go at this when I have some time to myself. I have had, ever since as a child, experiences of knowing things without actually "knowing" if they were true or not. Like a incredibly strong intuition. Sometimes when I touch other people I know things about them.
I can strongly relate, spiritualist "John Edwards" has nothing on me or my grown daughter, lol, we dont need to physicaly touch an individual, but be present with them.Sometimes we feel it more a curse, than a gift,Strange stuff comes across, Unspoken, but far more telling than words, with some people it comes thru so strong, that when retold to that person, we have to dial it back some, because it tends to freak them out. We compare the "vibe" more like each person is their own "radio station" some stations signal is stronger than others, and some stations dont come in at. Intuition ,gut feeling, vibe,or whatever you want to call it,is a perception everyone has,its just a little more developed in some more than others. And in closing, the vibe not to leave the children with a person that gives you an UNCOMFORTABLE feeling, is ALWAYS dead on, TRUST THAT VIBE, child protection is always the strongest signal,NEVER ignore it,thank you,,,Now that I've bored and disappointed those looking for sexual content, remember, expand your mind, knowledge is power, use it wisely, A MIND fuck,is the best fuck, lol, be kind to one another,,,Crazeee outtt ;)***

When I was home-studying electronics, mumblty-sumpin years ago, & simultaniously read an article about how brain waves are just low-wattage electro-magnetic impulses, I had an epiphany about the possibility that in some extreme circumstances it might be possible that brain waves could travel as radio signals do, & that someone "tuned" to the right frequency might pick them up. Beyond that, it seems that hard evidenciary proof (as opposed to annecdotal evidence) that it happens in fact has been hard to come by...

I believe i am a little psychic. my dad has been dead for 20 years and yet at times in my life he comes to visit to let me he is there. I could feel his prescence at my wedding to my hubby letting me know he was happy for me.

When we adopted our daughter. He came and talked to her. I could hear a conversation going on in the room and when i tried to peek in. The floors squeaked and when i got there she was there alone. We were all curled up and asked her "if Grandpa Jack" came and talked to her and she said yes.

I think there is soo much of time and space we know nothing about. .. sometimes people are too narrow minded to realize or to afraid to accept it. I think everyone has alittle part of the gift but some people squash it down as a hunch of just a feeling and not something more

Well, I’ve had various types of these experiences throughout my life….

I’ve had a few dreams where they will happen, but not for years afterward, and the strange thing is that there is nothing remotely interesting about those events, just day to day type of stuff, but the feeling of déjà vu is very intense.

I often “feel” it when something is about to happen, I don’t necessarily know what specifically is going to happen, but usually have a general idea when I get the feeling.

It’s almost a joke between me and several of my friends and family members that I always call just when they need to hear from me (or sometimes just need to hear from someone in general) … I’ve heard it SO many times when I say hello …. “oh, you’ve called just when I needed to talk to you.”

Also, several times I will see "movement" going on around me a lot (where there is nothing to be moving). When this happens I know that someone close to me (or to someone I'm very close to) is going to die. The first time it happened to me was when I was in my mid-20's and it FREAKED me out ... I think in that week or so before the person died, I called all my friends and family to make sure they were ok, it turned out that (that time) it was the grandfather of a very dear friend ... I had never met the grandfather, but as soon as he passed, I stopped seeing the movement around me ... I didn't hear about who it was that had died until a day or two after that, but I did make note of the time that I stopped having all that movement around me and it was within minutes of his death. It has been the same story with several other such occurrences as well.

I also have very good "intuition" about people, who to trust or not to trust -- and it has been very accurate for me.

The other weird thing that has happened a couple of times ... with people that I am VERY TIGHTLY bonded to emotionally .... I have felt pains hit me when they have had accidents ... the pain I feel is in exactly the same place as where they are hurt and hits me at approximately the same time as they have the accident, etc. I usually don't find out about who it was for at least several hours.. that is a very weird feeling!

On a different topic...What do you think of the Psychic/Paranormal TV programs? Any favorites? Any that seem real? Do you think that psychics/mediums/clairvoyants should be in the media? The psychics seem to be taking over CourtTV these days, & for me, hold no real entertainment value...maybe my suspension of disbelief can only be pushed so far...give me the hard science of "Forensic Files" anyday...

Psychic crime scene investigations get bypassed by me about as quickly as the UFO shows on the History Channel (how do they rate as "history" when no UFO sightings have ever been reliably confirmed?)
