Hi all, this happened yesterday and I am not sure if it was aired to the US or UK etc. As most of you know we here in Aussie land are having the apec summit here in Sydney. Now of course Mr Bush and our favourite Prime Minister the Mr "Short" Johnny Howard are doing their thing.
Some comedians thought it would be funny to dress up as Osama Bin laden and drive a fake motorcade through the city and get within 10 metres of Bush's hotel. The comedians belong to the ABC's chaser program and I am not sure what prank they were trying to pull. The have been detained by police for the moment. And by the way no one is laughing.......yet.

Mark Vieth,
Given how twitchy people are about security these days, that may have been unwise. They are probably going to get yelled at.

Classic Aussie piss-taking Mark.
They'll be in trouble for diverting resources who should have been guarding these APEC people from the millions they've pissed off, but no-one's been shot yet, so it's a storm in a teacup.

They definitely proved that intelligence is not a requirement for people in their position. Dorks.

They left the police red-faced...they were waved through checkpoints that they should never have got through.
Some good will come of it i'm sure, if nothing else make the security ensure they have proper communication wih the checkpoints, which it appears was seriously lacking if they were able to get through!
I'm sure they'll be charged, authority tends not to get amusement out of being embarrassed

It's all a bit close to the British so-called Comedy Terrorist, who seems neither to be funny nor terrifying.
I suppose they are proving a point about lax security, but I always feel that these stunts are often simply a form of slightly pathetic self publicity.
Perhaps the police realised that the chances of Osama Bin Laden driving through the centre of the city is really pretty non-existent and that in fact, not every middle eastern looking person is either Osama Bin Laden or a terrorist.

It makes no difference who they were dressed as....the point is they should not have got through. It is a no go zone...all are supposed to be cleared prior to entry...they assumed due to a communication breakdown that these were officials.
Harmless thankfully...but it just went to prove that someone with malice in their heart could have just as easily slipped through....to me those guys did them a favour and hopefully one they will learn from!
