If you could change the custom of shaking hands, what would you replace it with?

I think all kinds of relationships, not just personal, would benefit from replacing handshakes with hugs.
Surpise, surprise... :withstupi
:p
My thoughts exactly.

A hug could say a lot... :molest:
And it would give you a good Idea where you stand with that person
I have met many people who I would have much preferred a good proper Kiss, to the old hand shake. I'd be less likely to forget names.
I'm sure most wouldn't mind...
As for more than a kiss, I'dl save that for the second hello

I gotta say...that hug thing sounds good in theory but in a long trial run I'm sure I'd insult some more than others. There are some peeps out there that I wouldn't hug with a ten foot pole! And think about hanshakes and how some are nice, some are squishy-wet, some are annoying (the constant pumper), some are too hard, some are too soft...etc.
Imagine getting even closer than a hand extension to a stranger!?
Now don't get me wrong...I AM a hugger. I even got my in-laws hugging everyone in the family upon visiting and leaving. When I first got in the family they all (both sides...mom-in-law and dad-in-law) just said hiya when we got together. They were all initially startled when I started hugging everyone. Well...cept Mr. Lixy's step-nephews who kiss and hug and always have. Now they are used to it and it's the norm. I even got close family members saying "I love you" as often as possible...which they NEVER did!
But I digress!
I'll hug ya if I know ya...but instead of a shake (which passes germs) I'd prefer a wink!
And a BIG P.S. I'd hug any one of you (here @ Pixies) upon introduction/meeting...if you wouldn't mind!

I like the hugging idea for the most part with some exception. The Japanese bowing custom might work although it's a bit formal.
