It was so strange because I guess I did not realize how much Krista McAuliffe and the Challenger disaster had imapcted my life. I watched it live in 11th grade Science class. When the Endeavor detached I found myself crying happy tears. Yay for Barabara Morgan. I'll not be bitching about my commute to the classroom this year.

There have been two disasters on craft she very well could have been on, yet she is still going on.

I was standing in the cafeteria in the student union at Florida State University when Challenger exploded. The first thing I thought of was the horror of kids watching that, knowing that a teacher had been on board. I am so happy that Barbara Morgan will get to finish the job, and that MY KIDS will be among the millions of kids who will benefit.

You are correct, Lilith. Class IS in session. This one deed summarizes the conscious ability that has brought human kind to a separate plane from all other life on this planet. The individuals among us that have been able to stand on the shoulders of their predecessors to view beyond and then have the courage to side step the errors, are the ones that have cut the path of another step and then given us their shoulders.
No one can us give more.

Anyone going out into space with a couple of Rockets strapped to your back deserve all the best. Best wishes to the Crew of Endeavor and May they come home Safe.

The local news showed the launch live last night, and the words of the anchor were so right-on:

"We've been watching stuff like that for 30 or 40 years, and that's still one of the most spactacular things you can see on television."

Yeah, my Dad took my brother and I to the cape to see Apollo 16. Incredible.

I saw a shuttle liftoff from MIAMI once...it was dawn and you could clearly see the tailfire behind the shuttle's trajectory.
