First let me introduce myself. My name is Irish & I have been a Pixies member since 2001.I don't post much anymore because I disagree on most subjects
& I see NO sense to arguing about them!
I just wanted to relate yesterdays happenings, because my wife & I were
greatly impressed by them.I recieved a package from the VA yesterday
containing some prescriptions that I was waiting for.In it was a personal note,
saying that it was from a woman that packed my package. She said that she noticed my period of enlistment(1961-1965)& looked up my service record.
I am a 10% disabled VN Vet.She said that not a day went by,that she & her
husband & children, weren't thankful, that they were free because people like
me fought for their freedom. She then thanked me,for my service,& signed the note.I thought that I would relate this, because my wife & I were VERY
impressed that someone had taken, the time,to make such an effort! Irish :rolleyes2

Lilith---We came back from Fla. a couple of mos ago.I had an appt. for a
phys ck,the next wk.,& I didn't want to miss it,because I get MOST of my
prescriptions from them.I get my glucose meter & the related test strips from
them.I test 4/5 times a day so it would be VERY expensive,if I had to buy them!To tell you the truth,I like NH better but my wife likes Fla better. We have been married for over 42yrs,so we compromise. Irish
P.S.I'm referring to the VA.

Every so often people surprise us with their kindness or courtesy. It's too bad that it has to come as a surprise though. Seems to me as if the world would be a much better place if things like that were the norm. Then again, I'm just as guilty as the next guy of not letting people know that I am thankful for things that they do and sometimes of being sort of a pain in the butt to deal with.
Hope all is going well for you Irish. Come back and see us all a bit more often.

Thanks for sharing this with us Irish. What a simple thing that lady did and yet it meant so much. Makes me think are there times I could do something similar and over look it?
And btw.... Thank you to all our vets!!

Hi, Irish!
Missed you around here. What a neat thing that lady did including the note to you! Like them, I thank you and all our vets for the service they've performed for our country and the sacrifices they've made.

Lovely to hear from you Irish! What a lovely thing that lady did. It's the little things that make you realise this world isn't as bad as you think.
Like a lot of today's troops you had the misfortune to be putting your life on the line for a very unpopular war, which means you often don't get credit for the sacrifices you made. I always think it's horribly unfair on the men on the front line who are doing what they're employed to do for the country that they love with very few choices open to them.
I think anyone who does a job I wouldn't want to do (i.e. someone in the forces, the medical profession, working with the elderly etc) is a hero.
Hey there Irish! Nice to see you!
What a cool thing, getting a thank you like that. I'm glad to hear she took the time to do it.
