Well..the suffering has ended. As of around 1 am EST, Daddy passed. That I can accept. I had the hardest time with watching him lay there on the ventilator. Even harder when they pulled the ventilator---that is NOT something anyone should ever have to witness, especially of a really close parent/loved one. I could not deal with watching him struggle. But, he was only taking one breath for every 11 or 12 the machine gave him. So, I know he's in a much better place and is no longer hurting. And this, I can accept.

But on a very positive note, my baby sis has received some type of scholarship to the college in GA that is near her home. That will help her a lot, no matter how much it's for. :loveshowe

I'm so sorry for your loss - and angry that they did not warn you what to expect when they removed the ventilator...I can imagine that was very hard.

You're very brave, and (if it's any consolation at all) I personally, think you did the right thing by him. Sometimes the right decisions are the hardest.

Take care of yourselves

Lou

Oh Shadow dancer,

YOu are all in my prayers. I know the passing of a loved one is a hard thing but you just have to remember they are in such a better place. They dont hurt anymore. There is no suffering. There is only peace.

Even though it is hard...celebrate their life. Look around and see how many people their lives have touched. That is the sum of what they did with their short time they were here.

My thoughts are with you.

OH and congrats to your sister...that will help so much.

Oh sweety! To be able to say goodbye at the final moment will be your salvation in the days to come. Regardless of the circumstance, rest assured that your presence was felt and it helped to ease the passing of your "daddy".

May all of the sweetest thoughts of your dad overshadow the sorrow of his death. I hope that your mourning is swift and the happy memories of him make you smile at times when you need them most...now and in the years to come!

Your experience makes me grateful I was not there to see my loved ones' final moments...you should have been left with a much more pleasant final memory.
