Some guy woke me up at 8:30 this morning, he was beating on the door of our townhouse..Like, really beating on it, hard. I thought maybe he'd go away so I didnt get up at first, but he didnt go away, so I got up, threw my clothes on, and tied my hair back and he was STILL there.

I answered the door and he said he was looking for someone named "Cribbs" and that he had forclosure papers on a house in Florida.

I said, 'No one by that name lives here, we don't have a house in florida, we don't even have a mortgage." and I shut the storm door in his face. He jerked it back open!!!

So I slammed the main door and bolted it. He was jiggling the knob trying to open it. This is a really nice neighborhood, I was so embarassd to have that @sshole outside screaming at me and trying to get in the house. He said "If you show me some ID I will leave!" and I told him I was calling the cops, and he responded with "I AM the cops!" but he wasn't a cop. He showed up in a silver honda accord coupe.

So I dialed 911 and an officer showed up, I told him what happened and he asked me if I wanted to press charges and I thought about it, and I said no because it would have been my word against his anyway.

So the cop chewed him out!! He told him "This WONT happen again, and if it does this young lady is going to press charges and I WILL take you to jail." and he took me aside and apologized again and told me that he had worked hard to become an officer, and it made him mad when people impersonated them. The guy had a PI license. I told him (the guy) "That doesn't make you a cop" and he didnt' say a word.

You DONT try to get into someone's house when they tell you to leave. I am so upset.

cherrypie7788,

And rightly so! I wonder if you can get his PI license reviewed or even revoked. What a jerk!

I'm not sure who to contact about it, since I didn't press charges :(

Is there a PI licensing board?

Was he licensed for your area?

If a police report was done, obtain a copy with the creep's name on it.

I am going to call the NOPD monday and find out when I can get a report so I can get his name. Then I will go from there.

Im with everyone on this Report him, You have the name of the person he was looking for as well so that will help. Call the police and tell them that you want to press charges. They have people change their mind all the time so they will be used to it. While you are at it compliment the officer who turned up. A little goes a long way!

Go for blood :D

I agree, the guy should be identified and his PI license revoked. If anything like that ever happens again, though, I would first call 911 and then shout through the door that the police have been called and that he can wait there until they arrive. I worry that he could have grabbed you and maybe forced his way in when you first answered the door.

This is one of those times when you need a high pressure fire hose near the front door, to blast those pests away! Much like you do on the drive way.

Yeah, good move, CP. I think it may be possible to still press charges, though, if you want to go that route, as well. The authorities will usually give you some limited amount o f time to change your mind.

Fire hose ? how about a large caliber hand gun ?.... with a permit to carry of course

Handgun?? Don't be silly.

25lb CO2 extinguisher will give a really good frostbite, drive them out and it's not only absolutely legal, but recommended.

Apparently it also works on fires.

and if spraying them with it doesn't work you can always hit them with it.

... and if that doesn't do it, you can set it down behind their feet and push them causing them to trip. :rolleyes2

Yeah, I wouldn't want to SHOOT anyone....I have an umbrella by the door, how's that? :p

Since I didnt file charges, there was no report made. I have no way of finding out who he is. I only know the officer by description. I was too shook up to notice his name or to ask the other assholes name.

and if THAT doesn't do it you can set them on fire and taunt them with the extinguisher, withholding its lifesaving chemicals while laughing maniacally.

God I love that woman.

A letter (not a phone call) to the station commander praising the unknown officer and asking if the officer's personal notes taken at the time contain the information you require to take the matter further is probably the only way left.
