We got a puppy last saturday.... had him almost a week and he's still not named. He's registered at the vet as "no-name".

So any suggestions? We've thought up many but just can't agree on one.

It's a male black lab, apx 7 weeks old....

The only name that will do is: Steph's!

OK, Solon Jr. would be OK, too.

He's freaking gorgeous, Teddy!

Awwwwwwwwwwwwww! He's such a dollbaby!

Dunno why...but Lobo popped into my head as soon as I saw him.

Whatever you call him...give him some kisses from Auntie Lixy!!

What gorgeous blue eyes ... maybe that'd be a name ... Blue Eyes or Mr. Blue.

Ohhhhh, I want him!!! Lab puppies are so damn cute!!!! :loveshowe:

Not sure what would be a good name for him, I'd have to meet the little guy first. The first thing that comes to mind though is Bear.

My daughter's chocolate lab is called Pooh Bear. Labs are such affectionate dogs.

Actually he has black eyes, dunno what happened to them in that pic.

Thanks for the suggestions.
Steph's.... LOL.
We had thought of 'bear' but it was rejected.
Auntie Lixy, he says thank you for the kisses.

or just go for irony and call him whitey. :D

I'm at a loss for a name for your pup myself, which is unusual for me...we named our lab/blue heeler mix Riley, which has proven very appropriate...

But I couldn't let this thread go w/o adding that he does have his cute on...

& a warning to put everything out of his reach that you don't want chewed on, esp. being a Lab...

He looks like a Pongo to me... so cute!!!

And to ad to Scotz.. from our experience, labs are cute but dumb until they are 3 years old. They keep the cuteness, but get smarter.... lol Make to the 3rd year and you will have an awesome dog all the way around!.. :D

Ever see a lab that's afraid of something? My granny has a black lab(has had her quite a few years now) and that dog is freakin' TERRIFIED of thunderstorms! She will pee all over herself trying to run and hide! She'll push people/chairs whatever out of the way to get under the kitchen table or into the master bathroom where she can hide in the shower!

Oh god yes. We had one when I was a kid and the poor guy was absolutely terrified of storms. Poor thing would jump in your lap and just shake.

On that train of thought, name him Dammit...the neighbors will be quite amused with the calls of "Come here, Dammit...get down, Dammit...stop that, Dammit"...

OK, I've just read a lot of books and they all point to this:

If you can't decide on a name, it means you haven't bonded properly.

I flipped through the book further and it stressed this fact:

SHIP THE PUPPY TO TORONTO, CANADA

ONLY STEPH CAN GIVE IT THE NAME IT DESERVES

Sorry, Teddy. It's a fact. PM me for details on how to get this puppy to Toronto. If I don't receive a PM in five minutes, I will call the authorities. There are authorities somewhere that will take the dog and make sure he's with me. Don't think I'm bluffing. Solon Sr. is already chomping at the bit. OK, so he's sleeping and twitching in his sleep but I KNOW he's going to turn into a guard dog and we're ready to have a major international issue here.

If you know what's best for you, the dog will be in Toronto by sunset.

I don't know Steph, I think he looks like a small town dog. I think you should send the little fella to Iowa to be with Uncle IowaMan. :D

I even decided on a name I'd give him.......... Andre. After one of my favorite baseball players, Andre Dawson...... could call him Hawk for a nickname too. :p

It's a pity he had no name.

After all, in the desert you can remember your name.

My neighbours dog's name is Buddy. It is a cross between a Husky and a Shepperd. Really friendly dog - so much energy.

A bit late I know...
but when I saw him, the first name I thought of was ... ... Chet

Never been one for typical animal names...
let's see...
had turtles.....
Ralph, Juan Valdez (picked a lot of coffee from what I heard), the others didn't last long enough to remember...
My hamster was Phred, spent some time living in the wall
more recently the Bettas...
Sushi and Sashimi, preceded by... Stevie (boy could he sing...)
actually my family's had a ridiculous amount of pets, you don't want to hear All the names

Yep, buddy is it. Daughters are not pleased. They were pushing for a name more befitting a black lab, more regal, with class. The little guys got papers and a (as the girls said) "just any 'ole plain dog name".

LOL! Well hubby wanted buddy so he's happy.

Thank you all for the great name ideas. So many good ones.

Meanwhile buddy is growing fast. At his first vet visit he weighted 9 lbs 8 oz. Four weeks later at his 2nd vet visit he was 18 lbs 2 oz. His next appt. is Tues. July 10..... any guesses on weight?

Wouldn't venture, but knowing how stocky labs get, be prepared for him to tip the scales all the way...our cute little lab/blue heeler mix topped out over #60 when we last weighed her (to make sure we got the right dose heartworm pills & flea treatment...JeezLoueez those heartworm pills look to me like they could choke a horse, but she swallows 'em in single gulp, no chewing required)

Those pills are not cheap either!!

Little buddy is 31 lbs !!!

He is a charmer and everybody there loves him!
