I came to Pixies from another forum. One that I belonged to for years, and loved dearly. A Pixie posted the link in a thread and I checked it out. Obviously, I was intrigued in you all so I registered and poked around a bit.

Several months later, I watched helplessly as my beloved forum crashed & burned at the hands of cretins that were allowed to thrive in an unmoderated venue.

Were it not for MichaelSmith, the member that hasn't been here in forever, I'd never have discovered this great place...or the wonderful people that comprise it. I believe it was meant to happen.

Anyone have a story of synchronicity?

when i was preggers with my girl, i put my boss on notice that my last day would be two weeks before my due date. that very night i had minor labor, when i called to alert the ob the next morning, they told me to go to the hospital because, even thought the pains were few and far between, my girl was transverse. they just wanted to check me out. instead of going right in, i took a shower and had a cuppa. when i got to the hospital, they hooked me up to all their doohickies, told me i was in labor and then told me to go home 'cause it was gonna be a while. i called my hubby to let him know not to bother to come to to the hospital but to put off his trip to NJ. good thing he ignored my advice about coming to the hospital 'cause the second, and i mean the very instant, i hung up the phone, my water broke and i was being wheeled into the OR for a stat c-sec. if i hadn't had that cuppa, or the shower, my water woulda broke all over the car...and dang that woulda been hard to clean up. :p

there's other instances, i'm sure but i got baby on the brain. :p

Does this mean that I can use "synchronicity" as an excuse for not doing what Mrs. WI tells me to? :nana:

Excellent example of why we want so bad to be in control of our lives...and are reminded that we aren't.



And of how once again...coffee saves the day (or at least, the upholstery). :D

This is one of those subjects that I just don't know about. Sometimes it seems like things happen for a reason, but other times it seems that they all just happen completely and totally out of order which has been the case in my life lately :rofl:

But then, sometimes I don't see how things are just supposed to happen the way they do....but, that goes against my religious up bringing. *sigh*

In late October 2004 I put my house on the market with the express purpose of moving to San Francisco. I wanted to join my (new) husband on the Left Coast.

At the same time, I started looking for jobs in SF. I applied for tens of positions, and didn't get anything better than a phone interview. I'd resigned myself to quitting my job and moving without a new one...finding one when located in the Bay Area.

We had no bites on our house - not even one offer - until late March 2005.

Coincidentially, I got a call from an executive recruiter the same month about a marketing job in SF. The company that was hiring was willing to pay relocation expenses and found my resume completely out of the blue - and had no idea I wanted to move to San Francisco. They were looking for someone with my qualifications, regardless of current location. I did two in -person interviews, the second of which was the last week of March.

I got the offer on my house the same week I got the job offer - during the first week of April 2005. By the end of April I'd sold our house in Ohio, moved to San Francisco, and started a new job.

Talk about things working out.

I wonder if perhaps MichaelSmith saw it coming and wanted you to join him here because you were one of the members he respected?

Sometimes things are meant to be if someone means them to be, but I don't think things are "just meant to be". Those are coincidences.

The writing was definately on the wall, and MS & I did get along very well. The most meaningful part of the move has been playing out for a few years now.

personally i think things happen for a reason.. pre-ordained not sure.
