I know we have a thread for tacking up a note when we are not going to make our Pixie's daily roll call, but damned if I can find it. :banghead:

I will be incommunicado for the next week. I'm leaving for Denver tomorrow to visit my mother who turned 87 last Friday and I haven't seen in almost 4 years. She lives on her own with my two brothers and a sister in the area. The lady is independent and pig-headed (glad I didn't get any of that from her  ) and will only let somebody help her shortly after there is NO option. Our weekly calls talk about how she hates getting old, but always that she is OK for now. I just am not getting good vibes. I hope my visit is a pleasure trip but I'm going knowing it is a coin toss.

You have a safe trip PF and my very best to your mom. I'm sure she'll be incredibly glad to see you even if you are there to help her out. ;)

Hey, I'm a pig headed one myself and I know that even though I don't like to get help from others it is always good to see the ones I love.

Hmmmmm, I wonder what effect the mile high air has on panties? :D

Be safe my friend.

Hope your trip is a good one. Give our love to your mom. and tell her your only as old as you feel, you still have a few good years in ya.

:box:
Now from one mom "Why haven't you visited more often? Four years is really too long."....

WELL?

Have a good trip. And think about us often but not in front of her. :x:

Take care on your journey. You know that you will be missed in your absence, but we will make our best efforts to survive! We'll be here when you get back, do what you've gotta do, and know that our thoughts are with you.

We'll miss you, PF! Just have a safe journey and hurry back home to your Pixie family.

And, of course, tell your mom that several hundred of your closest friends wish her a very Happy Birthday, too! ;)

There are some lucky people today. :nana: I'm back. :D
(the people that believe they are the lucky ones are those that I left today. )

Thank you all for the well wishes. I went with optimistic trepidation and am back with a feeling of comfort for my mom and myself. We DID spend most all of my visit in a kind of 'quality time' that I am digesting and probably will for a while. I want to share some of these insights with other important people in my life that she heard a bit about and will do so as some of these formulate for me.

Right now I see I have a few PM's and about six pages of new posts to catch up on. The number of times I wanted internet access this past week, to reference something, was frustrating, but the number of times my mind missed Pixies told me I need to look up the "Pixies withdrawal" thread right away. ;)

I'm happy to be back with my other family.

We skipped the months and started counting by days or hours this past week. The other night I got a call that my Mom was taken to the hospital. That day the doctors statement was that her congestive heart condition will most likely take her within the next few weeks. She has fluid on her lungs which is what sent her to the hospital in early October. The night before last her blood sugar spiked at 500 before she was given insulin that dipped it to 24. Her systolic pressure dropped below her diastolic reading and my sister said she was drifting in and out of a coma state and incoherent yesterday morning. Buy last night, she had stabilized and was able to laugh and joke. The last call I had within the hour said she had a good night but had a rapid heart beat and that she has asked for her sky pilot to visit.

It's like standing in the door for your first jump. No amount of preparation prepares you.

Thank you all for the good thoughts and your awareness. The update for a few long days is a peaceful wait. After the radical night and scary day, her instructions to remove all IVs and support and to only keep her from pain was done late yesterday. She has been unconscious since with only oxygen being given. Tonight I was called and asked for my consent for unanimous withdrawal of the oxygen. We all just have a peaceful wait and pondering.
