I still can't believe it folks. Alabama has outlawed the sale of sex towns within its borders. What is the world comming to? The Supreme Court ruled that sexual freedom was not included in the constitution. Also any sex that isn't missionary is illegal and considered sodomy under the old sodomy laws. What do you think of this crap?

I think the best way for any authority to initiate total disregard and contempt for itself is to decree laws that are completely unenforceable.

I think they just did it. ;)

I think I'd love to be the defendant in the courtroom when they read my charges:

"IowaMan, you are accused of performing oral sex on a lady and penetrating her vaginally with your penis from behind. How do you plead?"

Of course I'm making the assumption that my sex life would be any better in Alabama than it is here in Iowa. It's nice to know though that if it was that I could technically be arrested for it.

Interesting world we live in.

I think its why radio stations in Florida have for years did running gags about giving away a sex toy to someone in Alabama.

So what kind of offense would it be considered if somebody were to get caught with a sex toy? A misdemeanor or something maybe similar to a minor having alcohol or something? (At least I think that's what it would be considered, it was when I was 18 and got caught with beer.)

If there are adult stores in Bama do they just sell magazines and videos then?

How much money does someone need to have to buy a sex TOWN?

Yes, I can interpret that it was supposed to be "toys", after all I am fluent in TYPO. :)

Makes me kind of glad I moved away from Bama a few years ago, because when I was there I (apparently) did lots of illegal stuff.

I wonder if that was purchase or possess?

didn't they just uphold the law already in place? from what i understand, the use, purchase and possession of sex toys isn't illegal, you just can’t sell them in alabama (i think it’s also illegal in texas, georgia, and mississippi). and they don’t want to attract a certain type of person to the area in the vicinity of a sex shop (people like me, i guess: loving mother and wife, tax payer, lawn mower, peaceful, fairly undisturbed :p, definitely not a child molester, rapist, or murderer). and they are worried about possible window displays. when was the last time you saw a sex shop that didn’t have every window covered and a discreet back entrance? :p

i didn't know about the missionary thing though, but under normal cirumstances, how would they even know?

either way, like pf said, these silly laws only encourage disrespect for the law in general.

it's a curious thing...since different states have these battles on the books, with differing opinions and laws, and the possibility of illegal goods be transferred across state lines, i wonder if it will ever need to be determined by the federal supreme court. can you imagine it? "your honors, i present exhibit A, a vibrator...has anyone seen exhibit A?" *a faint whirring noise emanates from the general direction of a slightly flushed and dazed looking ruth bader ginsburg* :roflmao:

Right now they are closing only sex toy stores but it is only a matter of time before they go after adult video and entertainment establishments.

Thou shalt honour my God whether you want to or not, taking my interpretations of His wishes as absolute right and wrong. I do not give a fuck about your beliefs, righter or wronger.

Oops, sorry , a bit of channeling there. I'm not sure if it was a Christian or Moslem fundamentalist, I couldn't quite pick the accent.

Oh, I can believe it Souls Cry. It's the same reason I often say, "There's nothing wrong with censorship and mind control. As long as they're *my* brands of xensorship andmind control."

The attitude is basically the prevailing one in this country's politics.

Nothing is safe while the legislature is in session. In 1897, the state of Indiana almost enacted legislation which stated “… the ratio of the diameter and circumference is as five-fourths to four …”, which would have set π = 4/1.25 = 3.2. :)
