any predictions on the winners? have you seen the nominated films? what do you think makes a movie, actor, director, etc., worthy of the prestigious oscar? or ain't it all that prestigious?
a list of the nominees (http://www.oscars.org/79academyawards/noms.html)

The Departed really WAS good. You never know which way those things are going to go, though.

I saw the Departed, Little Miss Sunshine, and Babel and loved them all for different reasons. :) It always seems like the ones I like won't win, though, so who knows.
I watched the Departed last night and absolutely loved it. I put in Babel just a few minutes ago but haven't started watching it yet. I really wanted to see The Queen, but never got a chance.

Wasn't it good? I hope they get more and I hope Volver gets something since it was shut out of the foreign movie slot. It'd be a good leap for original storytelling.

Martin Scorcese & his friends were wonderful. Forest Whitaker made me cry. I missed James Taylor!

Didn't see a single second of the Oscars either. Had actually forgotten about it until I saw this thread on Monday. I've had "Little Miss Sunshine" for about a week from Netflix and haven't gotten around to watching it yet. For some reason it was one of those that just didn't feel like a "gotta see it as soon as the DVD gets here" kind of thing. Maybe that will be my entertainment for tonight.
