Anbody else excited that both Ohio State and Michigan made it through their seasons unbeaten and ranked #1 and #2 as they head into their game next Saturday?

Sorry about the way I titled this thread osuche, just wanted to see if I could get that black thong of yours in a bunch.

I don't understand why there might be a "problem" with the thread title.

BOTH team's have been victorious thus far in the season, why would that title be considered a problem?

All though, it DOES happen to be the opening stanza of the greatest college fight song. Coincidence? I think not.

Good luck to both teams this Saturday.

Predictions anyone?

I will reveal mine on Friday or Saturday morning!

You are very correct in the 2nd part of your post Lilith, the 'Noles are NOT playing goood football this season.

I'm not sure that the Gator's 1 point victory over the Gamecocks and the "old ball coach" would be considered "kicking ass", but other that that little hiccup, they HAVE played very good this season.

With the turmoil in the BCS standings and Texas, Auburn and Cal all losing yesterday, I'd have to think that Florida would be the logical choice for #3 in the rankings behind OSU and Michigan. Stunning Rutgers should easily move up to 7 or 8 in the polls today. I don't see USC surviving the Cal, Notre Dame, and rival UCLA games without adding a 2nd loss on the season.

The rest of the schedule should provide plenty of "discussion" for talk radio and TV's "experts".

Next Saturday is the second biggest party day of the year at my daughters house. It will be the last clambake of the season and an event will be worked on for 3 days and up to midnight, the day before. The 10 ft. high rental tent covers most of the driveway in front of the cleaned out garage where the 30 chairs and 6 ft. rental TV that has been reserved with deposit since last year is set up.

Only March 17th will have more than the 50+ people roaming around the place, but these are here for the day and not on a perpetual open house rotation. Upstairs becomes the domain for 10-20 little kids and the downstairs has clusters of people around the 5 various located TVs.

Yes IowaMan, there are other people excited about Ohio/Michigan next Saturday. ;)

Definitely beats the hell out of political arguements. Still lots of time before kickoff though, who knows where it could all lead......

Been thinking about the game though (as I'm at home sick with a bitch of a sinus infection) and I'm not really sure who I think will win. I've seen lots of both teams this year and they are both incredible. Ohio State came into Iowa City and shoved an apple into my Hawkeyes' mouth and proceeded to slam them up the ass for three hours (figuratively, of course) while the Iowa/Michigan game was more of a hard hitting battle that found Michigan wearing Iowa down in the end.

I really think that Michigan's offense hasn't shown it's best side yet though. They seem to me to have every bit as much firepower as the Buckeyes on that side of the ball. Defensively and the special teams seem to be a wash for me too. So what's my point? Not really sure at this stage of the game, I guess I'm just looking forward to the next shots to be fired between osuche and 1nutworld. :D

A sports reporter who was strolling by sees the incident and rushes over to interview the boy. He tells the boy, "I'll title it 'Young Wolverine Fan Saves Friend From Vicious Animal.”

"But I'm not a Wolverine fan," the little hero replies. "Sorry, since we're in Ann Arbor, Michigan, I just assumed you were," says the reporter and he starts writing again.

He asks "How does 'Spartan Fan Rescues Friend From Horrific Attack' sound?" "I'm not a Spartan fan either, " the boy says. "Oh, I thought everyone in Michigan was either for the Wolverines or the Spartans.

What team do you root for?" the reporter asks. "I'm an Ohio State Buckeyes fan," the boy replies. "They're the best." The reporter smiles, starts a new sheet in his notebook and writes: "Little Bastard From Ohio Kills Beloved Family Pet."

Any thread regarding UM and OSU, wouldn't be complete without a reference from long-time Michigan broadcaster, the late Bob Ufer.

It's not a reference to OSU, but it does signify the attitude that I'm sure UM is bringing to the game.

The quote is from Bo Schembechler, at a tribute to Mr. Ufer.

"As I stand here, I just know that Bob Ufer is looking down at me from up there in football's valhalla and he's saying to me ... 'Bo, you can do it. MEE-CHIGAN can do it. MEE-CHIGAN can do anything.'

Wanting the teacher, of course, to like them and not really knowing what a Michigan fan was, hands fly into the air.

There is one exception. A little girl named Jane did not go along with the crowd. The teacher asks her why she has decided to be different.

Because I am not a Michigan fan, she reports.* The teacher asks her "what are you then"

Well, she says, My mom is a Buckeye fan and my dad is a Buckeye fan so I am a buckeye fan.

I think the reincarnation one may be the funniest I've read yet.

I have a college football computer simulator program that I've played for the past 15+ years and I got online today and saw that a buddy of mine has many of the '06 teams created so I thought I'd run a few games and see what could happen in the Horseshoe this weekend. I only had it run 10 games so it's a pretty small sample.

In the Michigan wins the scores were: 13-10 (OT), 19-14, 20-14 and 10-3

Ohio St. won games by these scores: 16-15, 24-7, 19-18, 12-10, 31-19 and 15-0

Not a whole lot to choose between there folks. It appears as if neither team will be able to run the ball (Michigan had 135 rush yds. in one game but that was the highest either team got). As with most any matchup of relatively evenly matched teams it will probably come down to who makes the fewest mistakes. Amazing grasp of the obvious I've got there huh?

Looks like the computer thinks this one will be too close to call.......

BTW, it says my Hawkeyes will pound Minnesota to keep the pig but I don't know if I'm buying it with the way both teams have played the last couple of weeks.

Since I'm not certain if I'll get online in the morning I thought I'd go ahead and make a pick on the big game this morning. First things first I'm hoping that both team's cheerleaders get into the Pixies spirt and honor osuche by wearing thongs and lacy bras that sport their team colors. No sweaters and skirts, just the thongs and bras. :D

Lost my train of thought there for a moment, sorry bout that. :faint:

These two teams really are evenly matched. About the only real advantage I see is that Ohio State has the home field advantage. I'm pretty sure this one will turn on either a big special teams play or a turnover that leads to a short field (or TD) for the other team. I'm not looking for a lot of points to be put on the board. (Then again, I probably won't look at the scoreboard at all if the cheerleaders dress as I am hoping.)

Damn, this is tough. I guess I'll pick the home team to win a squeaker:

Michigan 15
Ohio State 17

I could honestly go either way with my pick but I'm hoping that if Ohio State does pull out the win that osuche will honor us with a picture of her wearing a scarlet thong with a lacy gray bra. :wish:

4 men are condemned to die by Guillotine 2 are UM grads and 2 are OSU alum.

After being chosen in random order the first man lies down with his head in place and the blade comes down and stops inches from his head. Since he was spared, the executioner motions for him to leave. The 2nd UM grad gets in and the same thing happens. He too gets to go, his life spared.

Seeing the debacle before him one of the OSU grads says, "Obviously its not working right, but I'm an engineer, and I know how to fix that."

One day a housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt. Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to his wife, "What setting do I use on the washing machine?"

It depends," She replied. "What does it say on your shirt?" He yelled back, "Ohio State University."

And they say blondes are dumb

Countdown to Kickoff:

0days 3hours 37mins 59secs

And my prediction:

In a hard faught, bruising, TYPICAL, UM-OSU football game this afternoon.

The winner of the game will cause more turnovers, and make one special teams play, that will decide the outcome.

Both offenses have playmakers, Troy Smith, Antonio Pittman, Ted Ginn Jr., Michael Hart, Chad Henne, Steve Breaston and Mario Manningham. If UM gets Hart to 100 yards and Henne doesn't have any picks UM wins.

If Troy Smith can spread out the UM defense, and distribute the ball at the start of the game, making UM stop the pass, Smith will use his mobility to gain yardage and the clock, and OSU wins.

My prediction:

UM 28

OSU 24

(as much as I'd love to see the previously discussed photos of osuche  :thumb: :line: :cheerlead  ) I just can't go against UM in this game.

The passing of Bo Schembechler, will mean more to the fans then to the players, and while I MIGHT be wrong, I don't really think it affects the outcome of the game. Once the ball is kicked off, the players will block the memories of Bo out of thier minds till after the game.

So, um, is there some kind of rivalry going on in this thread?

28-14 OSU leading at the half.

OSU was able to use the spread formation offense to dictate play in the first half. Troy Smith has been dominant. If OSU keeps this up, there is no way Michigan can come back. As good as their defense has been, this season, Michigan hasn't been able to stop OSU.

One of my "keys" to the game was 1/2 correct, OSU is using the spread offense, but not to use Troy Smith to run the ball but to pass out of it. UM can't cover all the talent of OSU's wide recievers. Great game plan by Jim Tressel.

Actually, the OSU turnovers made this a sloppy ballgame. Otherwise, we would have dominated more cleanly. Almost enough to make you wish for a BCS re-match :D

Good game, everyone!

I sort of saw the game the same way Osuche did. I really never felt Michigan was going to win it once they got their initial blows in early in the game. It just sort of felt to me as if Ohio St. had it in hand pretty much all along. It wasn't that Big Blue was doing anything wrong, it just felt to me as if the Buckeyes were going to come out on top.

I'm all for a rematch on Jan. 8 though. This time around I'd prefer the tradional defensive battle that this series has provided over the years.

I haven't turned on ESPN this morning to see if they are hailing this one as one of the all time greatest games yet, I'm sure that's probably the case though. Can't say I feel that way. I can't put it up there with last season's Rose Bowl, the BCS title game between OSU and Miami (FL) or even the '93 Notre Dame/Florida St. game. I'd probably say it was the equivalent to the Michigan/Texas Rose Bowl game from a couple of years ago. Nothing wrong with being in that class though, still a pretty damn entertaining ballgame.

With the weather forecast for cold and possible snow yesterday, the Ohio/Michigan/Clam Bake/Party was moved down to the end of their street to the club house. Even though it was officially closed for the year, because of their activity in the beach club, they were granted special permission and a wise choice for all it was.

Thanks for posting those pics PF! :thumb: That definitely was some kind of party you guys had there. Man alive, I think there were more people there for your bash than what usually show up each New Year's Eve at the local Legion Hall here to stumble into the New Year! I know for a fact that the last couple of wedding receptions I've been to were probably smaller.

The pics of the dogs were priceless! I tried to get my guy to wear a Hawkeyes sweater when he was a puppy a few years ago and he would have nothing of it. He just runs and hides now if I even go to the drawer where it's stored. You should see him in the spring and summer when I try to put a Cubs hat on him! I try to tell myself that it's because he doesn't like hats but I'm afraid that he's either a Cardinals fan or just embarrassed to be seen in the Cubs hat. There are definitely times that I couldn't blame him for feeling that way. :roflmao:

I miss Ohio State tailgates! We had 20 people at a friend's house, but it just wasn't the same.

www.dispatch.com has stories about the aftermath of the game. I love the pic on the front page showing the burning entertainment center being thrown off of the roof. We Buckeyes sure know how to PARTY! :D
