Confound the Damn things!!!!! ARGHHHH!!!

I just bought a *real* bra for the first time in years. I normally wear soft comfy boob shelf making sports bras. The cup ones never fit right, so the plainer the better comfort for me. However, the sports bras don't show off my best attributes and give me that boob-shelf uni-boob look.

So I measured, and was all prepared, bought a real lift and support bra for 18hours worth of wearing. Functional with alittle lace to be sexy. The damn thing is the right size around and the cups are the right size but the thing still pokes and hurts anyway. Back to the sports bras, I guess.

You other Pixie Ladies have similar issues? How do you go about finding one that fits? how many of you have 23859628346592834 bras that are pushed to the back of your underware drawer that just have one minor flaw that makes them uncomfortable?

My problem? After a few washes, the underwire comes out! and it won't sew back in right...keeps poking through the mended area.

Gotta be careful, or the boob will deflate if poked too hard. :yikes:

Can I blow it back up again?

Lizz, my advice when it comes to bras is as follows:

1. Different brands fit differently, so experiement a little before you try.

2. Go to a good underwear department and get them to measure you. Preferably get measured by one of the older more experienced women, not a young slip of a thing.

3. At least until you are a better judge of what's going to be comfy long term, buy your bra from a proper corsetry manufacturer. Yes it will cost you BIG time, but what price comfy, beautiful shaped, well suported boobs?!

4. When you get to Britain, I recommend you try Fantasie, Freya (who are part of Fantasie in fact) Charnos, Rigby & Peller (they make bras for the Queen - expensive, but pretty while supporting like scaffolding - you may not have noticed but the Queen is pretty "stacked" herself!) Also, there's a company who operate mainly through catalogues and online called Bravissimo who stock all of those brands and more and are designed for those of us with more than average up top. They are definitely worth looking at once you are sure of your size. http://www.bravissimo.com/bravissimo/Default.aspx

5. When you get to Britain, remember that British sizes are slightly different and get measured.

6. We can always go shopping together sometime?! Mayhem and Fussy can wonder what's going on in the changing rooms without them! LMAO

Good advice from Lou!

Oprah actually had a show about bras and took a truckload of women to be fitted. Every single woman was in the wrong size bra! I've often thought that about Oprah a few years back. She always had the "my cup[s] runneth over" look and I used to think, "That woman could buy and sell any bra manufacturer...why can't someone tell her her bras suck?".

Anyway...GET FITTED! A bra should never ride up to between your shoulders and never cause back fat. If it does, you are in the wrong size. You shouldn't be squeezed in at the sides and you shouldn't have any extra cup (wearing of the condom looking). Many woman are betweener's...meaning the bras bought off the shelf in department stores won't quite fit. There are manufacturers who make "between sizes" and yes the cost will be higher but the price is worth it for the comfort of a good bra.

After you are fitted and find a style that suits you perfectly you can go directly to their web site or to a wholesaler who carries that brand and buy them cheaper. You won't have to pay the mark-up of the store you bought it from.

Happy hunting!

Hehehe - we'll definitely do that sometime then....you're going to need special undies for your Wedding day too!

And baby clothes shopping is fine by me too - as long as we can stick to pastel colours - I have a thing about babies who look like babies, not mini-teenagers!

Woot! pretty new underthings!

As far as baby clothes--- we are so on the same page when it comes to clothes then! Babies grow up too fast, and I love age-appropriate clothing on kids and babies.

Personally, I love bras....I find I'm much more comfortable in one than out of one - provided it fits right of course.

Our lodger who has just moved out, used to love to come home from work and take her bra off, despite being bigger busted than me, but I could never do that - I hate to move around unsupported. In the early stages of my pregnancy, I was even sleeping in one as it hurt too much to have them roaming free while I was asleep!

Mrs. WI preferred to wear a bra in the latter stages of pregancy each time too. But now she can't wait to set'm free, and the only support she has is my agreement with her decision. :D

I agree that a good fitting is essential. Then you just got to try a bunch on until your girls :boobs: look their best. I hate wearing them personally and live for when I'm at home and braless.

I dunno if La Perla does bras, but their lingerie is definitely sexy and I'm very partial to ladies wearing them.

Loulabelle

La Perla do do bras but not necessarily in the size that Lizz needs. A lot of the really stunning lingerie manufacturers don't cater for women who actually have breasts!

Well, I can't speak from experience, but I know that DW wore size 40 for years, but just got measured properly and turns out to be 44 (she'd do me an injury if she knew I was revealing that...). She is, however, much more comfortable than she has been in years.

Where else is a young lad like myself likely to be confronted with terms like "La Perla do do bras"?

God I love this place.

WI, one of my aunts had carpal surgery a few years back, my uncle had to help her put her bra on during recovery...he complained, "I've taken a lot of these off, I've never had to learn how to put one on before..."

LOL^^ you guys

Well, my mother and I went out shopping today. We happened to go to a shop that measures bra sizes. I was measured and I was off by 2 inches. So now I have a *real* bra that fits. Now I need 28356298346598236458 more in an assortment of sexy styles and colors!!! I may be a new Pixie----> BraFanatic! We'll see.

OK I have been through hell over the years trying to find a comfy bra that actually has support.
I never really found one until I fell pregnant and started using maternaty bras, they are sooo unbelievably comfy, and they have great support.
That is what worked for me, but as others have meantioned you may need to go on a bra hunt through all the store until you fine the perfect one
