How many trick or treaters?

Just wondered about how many kids showed up to trick or treat last night (or whichever night they did it in your area) at your respective places? I was sort of surprised by the low turnout this year at my place. Granted, I live in a pretty small town (under 750 people) but I was expecting to have more than the 30 or so kids that showed up for their candy last night.

Not sure why, but we've always had a low turnout at our place...maybe because many of the neighbors on my street don't give out treats, seems to discourage kids from even bothering...

I was a roving candy giver. Most people on our street don't do it, but the street next to ours has a *lot* of kids. I put together a bowl of candy and went over there to give it away. Worked fine.

Probably served about 50 kids and then I ran out of candy, so I took a walk around the neighborhood to look at decorations.

However, even the street next to us wasn't as crowded this year as last. :(

We had 60+ of the lovable little vacuum cleaners! :D Wiped us out. Then again, we did have exceptional Halloween weather - clear and 68F. Coolest was when a micro Latino pointed through the glass of the storm door and squeeked "Gato!" :)

there was no-one here to hand it out so i put a bowl of it on the porch. i'd guess we went through three or four bags but i couldn't say if that's two kids that each took half or lots of kids that took a handful.

this is our first year here but i'd guess only 20-25 or so because we live on a looped street just off of a very pedestrian unfriendly road and it's likely it was just the neighborhood kids. we didn’t see more than 20 or so on our trek around last night.

i'm tellin' ya it’s the best kept secret around. the neighborhood is mostly young families and retired/semi-retired couples who love to see the kids in costume so they buy tons of candy and give each kid several handfuls with lots of smiles and oh-my-aren’t-you-just-the CUTEST!!!s.

we had a great time. i told my girl it was the best haul i’d ever seen. i used to have to work half the night to rake in what they got in just under and hour and a half. :p it would have been even less time than that, ‘cept being new to the neighborhood, and having the cutest kids this side of the mason-dixon :D, made lots of folks want to chat a bit.

More Malls and other groups are putting on parties so that the children have a safe time. This has caused a slow down on the house to house T or Ting.

We have young people in dark clothing roaming at night taking little things left out, but it has nothing to do with All Hallows.

Maybe half a dozen or so came by the house. Like Scarecrow mentioned, a lot of people take their kids to "safe" places rather than trust people in their neighborhoods. While niecessary and good for the kdis, it's really kind of sad!

As a kid, we used to room for blocks and blocks and never worried about anything bad happening. That was part of the fun. Even in the late seventies we'd have 40 or more kids stop by the house for candy and it was fun seeing how they were all dressed up. (A few teen agers who obviously weren't so interested in dressing up, but usually they had masks, at least.)

The world's changed ... but sometimes, not for the better, I fear. :(

I stopped counting at 250.........but ,it was alittle closer to 300...

I bought 10 pounds of candy..and I had 5 pieces left.........and I eat that :smurf:

We live in a town of about 3000 and my daughter lives on main street we all go to her house dressed up to hand out candy. Some kids come up to the house and some just look and turn around they won't come thru the graveyard to get the candy.One of us will stay by the street to give them something. We had better than 300 kids come by this year. Lots of fun!
