View Full Version : My simple life.

I've seen a few articles about simplifying your life and they all seem to focus on eliminating unnecessary choices. Why have ten when three will do? Categorize things and keep what's important, then toss what isn't. And of course, the age old adage...less is more.

I've repainted various rooms of our house way too many times in an effort to pin down a great color combination that will be fashionable yet not trendy, comforting yet not dull, fun yet not annoying. All I've managed to do is get excited at various prospects long enough to become disappointed in the end results. I'm tired of painting, and I want everything off-white. I like off-white. It's clean and bright, neutral and safe.

I want excitement but I like my walls off-white.
I enjoy some flavored creamers but I like my coffee to taste like coffee.
I love to cook different things but I like meatloaf & mashed potatoes.
I have fun travelling but I'd love to take a nap in the hammock on a sunny day.
Flavored lotions sound fun, but I like pussy to taste like pussy. (When it isn't dripping with my hot cum)

But doesn't all this make me boring?

excitement isn't all it's cracked up to be and it certainly isn't about the things we eat or the colors on our walls...even if the food network and hgtv want you to think otherwise.:p

I saw somewhere someone said if you don't love it and it doesn't speak to who you are, dump it. Problem is I love it all and it all screams me.

I wish the things about my life that are simple had a bit more pizzazz and the parts that are unnecessarily complicated were a bit more simple.

I think simplicity is partly a state of mind...but...

1) Having off-white walls means you can hang exciting, colorful things on them, advantage being able to switch and change according to mood and taste.

2) I'm a strong advocate for Irish coffees. The kind you can't get from Maxwell's but is enhanced with a bit of Jameson's.

3) I love the taste of plain old marinara sauce over any pasta, and cold orange juice. These two foods are boringly simple...yet the simple taste of each makes me rapturously happy, especially when I've had a rough day and need to come home to something familiar and right as rain. Comfort foods have their place in our lives, just like overpriced sushi at overpriced Japanese restaurants.

4) St. Tropez would be nice for me right now, but ultimately, nothing beats your own bed or your own relax space.

5) I've found that the taste of pussy eventually overpowers whatever flavored substances I bring to the table.

Las Vegas lights are turned up to the brightest the first time you see them. Everybody should see them and nobody should wear sunglasses every night. ;)

*Nothing wrong with an off white room.
*Black coffee is a way of life.
*Meatloaf and mashed potatoes, well there's not a whole lot of things better than that for dinner.
*Tough to beat a nap on your own couch.
*As for pussy.... that's just never boring. In fact I think Rachael Ray should do a special on the Food Network to let us all get more ideas on how to prepare it. Every way from the basic, simple comfort food style to gourmet lotions and garnishments.

I wonder about myself sometimes when I see a guy my age driving around in a new Corvette or something and there I am in my 4-door sedan that gets me 40 mpg on the highway. Would I love to have the Vette? Damn right I would but I've never been the kind of guy that could justify spending that much on a car. Point A to point B in a safe and economic way is my view of cars. I'm sure that makes me boring too but right now I can't seem to get the thought of Rachael Ray doing a "Party With Pussy" menu on her show out of my mind.

A little variety is spice...too much variety and the soup just gets nasty tasting. We are all at heart creatures of habit...and it's a little deviation from those habits that makes it fun.

better to live simply than to simply live and better to have a simple life than a simple mind. :p

WI maybe it's not the colors you are painting you walls maybe it's just the pianting in the first place. You should try like they do on those home decorating shows and put fabric on the walls. I think maybe you should try putting some wool up :ewe: .

That's something I could NEVER do!

My house is too dusty for fabric walls. :p

Maybe if they invented "Lint Brush Wallpaper". It would attract dirt & dust, and when it's full...rip off the top layer to expose a new one! :roflmao:

My house will have bare brick. There will be no arguments about painting the walls, and better yet, no one will have to paint them :)

I'm still thinking about carpet vs. hardwood...

I will have a small simple house. Neutral colors with wild and vibrantly colored accesories. :) Easy to clean and maintain. I am a fan of vintage Peter Max...late 60's early 70's. Love the colors and patterns. :)
