Hi everyone! I'll be going to Chicago for a few days. It would make things more interesting to meet up with someone while I was there. If you're not interested in that, but are familiar with the city, please send me a message anyway so I can get some info.
Thanks.

Not in the Chicago area, but there is a lot to see and do there. Grant Park, Navy Pier; Water Tower Place; Sears Tower; museums; art gallaries; great theatres and much, much more. If you like Mexican food, I always loved the Su Casa downtown. The Steak House in the Palmer House was always good, too.
Hope you have a nice time.

I'll have to check out of couple of those. I've never been and it seems that every city has it's "must see" places. Have you ever been to the chinatown district and if so, any thoughts?
Thanks again!
O.K.........dicksbro can't be the only one with input for me....yet, my inbox isn't being overwhelmed yet! Must be a network glitch.......

You know, I never have been to a "chinatown" district in Chicago. Not even sure where it is. Sorry about that. Museum of Science and Industry is neat. They have a German U-Boat and you're able to walk through it. Amazing that humans could live in that boat for weeks/months at a time.
I kind of think there's a "King Tut" exhibit going on now, but I won't swear to that.
You might look up Chicago on the web. Bet there's a zillion good suggestions there and maybe a spot to ask questions.
Oh yeah, have breakfast at "The Little Corporal" downtown, across the Chicago River from the Marina Towers. Done in a Napoleon motiff, the French Toast is wonderful. Always made it a must for at least one breakfast.

Dicksbro.
Any chance of getting the U-boat to Niagara in time for the PAGAN?
Fun on the St Lawrence awaits those with the fire control system.

I had hoped some of our Chicago people would jump on this, but Chitown is the one other big city I feel very comfortable and at home in. I use to get there quit a bit. DB’s suggestions were right on with me. I think I recently heard they closed the coal mine at S & I museum, but you can still spend more than a couple days in there. If that kind of place interests you and you have the time, Adler planetarium is there and the Field museum is world ranked.
The Drake Hotel is the last of the old grand hotels with the marble fountain in the lobby and is right on Michigan Blvd. There’s a lot of good jazz clubs on Rush St. in the Old Town district if that’s your thing. Wrigley Field is where they keep the only ball team I’ve cared about in years. :cheerlead CUBBIES :cheerlead
Chicago is one place you will not have a problem finding something to do and you can still hail a cab to get you there reasonably. It’s not fakey, sugar sweet hospitality, but most of the people are friendly. If you like to bite the cow and it’s still there, Morton’s is the best steak for my money (and a good amount of anybody’s that eats there ) but it’s a class operation. It’s a toddling town. ;)

The USS Cod (http://www.pixies-place.com:81/forums/showthread.php?t=20237&page=4&pp=15) is closer and already in the water. Maybe we could all come back to my place for an after-party?

Very good info. guys; I really appreciate it! I think a jazz bar/club would be very cool and it sounds like I can visit Chitown without worrying about waking up dead. I have had a tendency in the past to hop on a metro/subway and get off just anywhere......usually after a few drinks. That proved to be not the smartest idea a couple of times in D.C.
Thanks again for all of the feedback and ideas to check out!
